aotd: “Evolution”

evolution_jasonmartin.jpg
Todays artwork of the day has two paintings in it (dyptich). The artists name is Jason Martin, he paints, illustrates, web design, you name it.

This piece really caught my eye, each one is acrylic on canvas 20×30″. I love the colors of both, and the backgrounds are really cool, especially the 1st one. The dark green stains are great, and do a good job of filling in for trees and what not.

Have a look at his website for his other work.

Craola and Naoto Hattori @ Lineage Gallery

On this Friday June 1st Lineage Gallery is opening two shows. The first show called “Forgotten Lands” features artwork by Naoto Hattori and Greg “Craola” Simkins. Both artists have a very surreal style to them, it really is a good match for the two.

The second gallery area will be showing work from Anne Faith Nicholls. So if your actually there, you can check out both shows.
If you head over to the Lineage website to gawk, like I will be, you might want to look in the inventory area. They have great Craola giclee available (below). It’s from an edition of 50 and looks very sweet.

Jeff Soto Lucky 13 Calendar

Jeff Soto has a Calendar coming out with Murphy Design. It will be a 13 month calendar and will also come with a sticker set, and a 32 page mini zine.

It looks like it will be available on July, but Murphy Design is taking pre-orders right now. There will only be 1,500 sets printed, so waiting is not such a good idea.

You can see the set as well as order over here at Murphy Design:

Sorry for the lull this weekend, I had to catch up with work. Anyway, this artwork of the day is by an artist named Grzegorz Krysinski. It’s a conceptual piece, and looks amazing. When digital art is done well, it can look as exciting as traditional art. I love how the artist here leaves the large digital brush strokes visible, it makes it great candy for the eye.

Here’s his profile: Grzegorz Krysinski

aotd: “Kangaroo Court”

kangaroo_court_by_hotburrito2.jpg
Todays image comes from an artists known as Hotburrito2. A very cool photo of a white Kangaroo. The artist says that “white kangaroos are not very common.
what is common about them, what they share with their darker brothers, is an ulmost unwavering dedication to daytime laziness.”

What I love about this image so much, is the look on the Kangaroos face, of course I’m using a ood doe of Personification on this Kangaroo, but I can’t help but see a smug look on this animals face.

Very cool.

“The Ride” original painting by Craola Simkins

I saw Greg Craola Simkins work in person at Ffifty24 in San Francisco a few months ago. It was an amazing show. It blew me away how skilled Craola is with acrylics and drawing.

The internet or photos will not give a good idea of how dynamic this artist really is. I’ve seen a good amount of prints of his for sale, but not many original pieces, they sell fast.

There currently is one of works on auction right now, it’s called “The Ride” and is acrylic on a hand built wooden box. It was one of the pieces from the Chubby Bunny show at the Nucleus Gallery.
It looks amazing, have a look. Also take a look at the show he had at Fifty24 in San Francisco.

Tim Biskup show @ Billy Shire Fine Arts

Tim Biskup is having a solo show opening this Saturday at Billy Shire Fine Arts in Culver City, CA.
So if your lucky enough to be in the area, head on over to see the show. Or you could head over to the Billy Shire Fine Arts webpage and take a look at the work that will be shown.

Looks like it’s going to be a great show. I’m really getting into Tim Biskup’s work lately, I love how he uses color and how he arranges his the content of his work. I know he uses cell vinyl acrylic, I’m not sure how different that is than regular acrylic paint.

My favorites of this show would be: “Impaler”, “Dominator”, “Burning”, “Stem” and I really love “Left Hand” (above). The colors used the face are excellent. Has a great glow to it.

Cthulhu Relic Statue

I was looking around for cool Lovecraft based art, and stumbled upon this little statue. Its around 5″ tall and looks pretty cool. It’s only $10!

If you look on the artists website he has made some pretty impressive Cthulhu statues, I wouldnt mind having one of the larger ones.

Two Bob Zombie originals

I just found two original paintings by an artist that goes by “Bob Zombie”. If you look at the pieces there is an obvious Michael Hussar influence, but also a little bit of Chet Zar. Both of these pieces are great, they’re both oil on canvas panel and both are 8″x8″.

I’m really surprised no one is snagging these works. Hopefully I’ll have some more info on this artist soon. Until then, heres the link to his auctions.
