Terri Woodward is an artist out of California, where I’m at by the way. She has had shows at the Hive Gallery, Art Whino, Carmichael Gallery and others. Her figures have these great big eyes, similar to what you might see in the work of Sas Christian but Terri definitely has her own style of painting. For instance the eyes in this piece really look like some sketchy zombie eyes, the kind of eyes that were always present in the best thriller movies. She can also paint perfect Bees, my favorite insect. Maybe one day she’ll paint a bumblebee?

If you want to see more of Terri’s work head on over to her site, you can also get some prints and even originals through the store area of her site.

Michael Hussar, “Still Life With a Smile” print pre-release

stilllife_hussar.jpg
There is a new print on the way from Michael Hussar. It’s being released through BirdBath Publishing, which deals with all of Michaels prints and originals.

This new print is entitled “Still Life With A Smile”, and I imagine it is limited to 88 like the rest of his prints have been. The quality of Michael’s prints and the presentation is amazing. You don’t just get another giclee print, it comes in a custom folder with a certificate of authenticity and a wax seal on the certificate. Very smooth. The only problem you’ll have is finding a frame that is worthy of the print.

If you order this print before February 4th, Birdbath will cover the shipping in the US. Looking at the site I also see that there is still a few “Hans Memling” and “White Devil” prints as well.

Today’s piece is from an artist I met when I first started the site, and still keep in contact with. I’m surprised that I haven’t shown her art yet.

Not only does she make a variety of work, paintings, drawings & gig posters but she also has a sale ever Monday where you can score some of her work for less than the cost of fast food. You can’t beat that. I like the Victorian feel that her work has, which isn’t Victorian at all but pre-Tudor all the way up till the Georgian era.

You can see more of her work on her homepage, and follow her blog to score some of those Monday art deals.

New artists at BeinArt Surreal Art Collective

There are 23 new artists added to the BeinArt Surreal Art Collective. Some of these names are people I have featured on the site here, or will work with in the near future. And of course some of these artists I have never seen work from before, can’t beat learning about new art.

If you head over you can now see new profile pages for: Fred Harper, John Kolbek, David R. Choquette, Alex Garcia, Gregory Jacobsen, Cam De Leon, Derek Nobbs, Elizabeth McGrath and many others.

New Artists at BeinArt

Shows this weekend: ISM, Deep Pop & Chris Anthony

The grand opening of the new ISM Gallery starts at 7pm. There is a massive list of artists that will have some work there: Aaron Kraten, Andrew Hem, Angie Mason, Chet Zar, Dave Chung, Derek Hess, Haubs, Kelly Vivanco, Ken Garduno, Kristian Olson and many more. What a killer show, so many of these artists are Creep favorites. Visit

Then we have the Deep Pop show at the Kenneth Chapman Gallery. It opens the 27th and will feature another massive list of artists. The show is supposed to act as “one of the largest surveys to date of Pop Surrealism etc etc”. Some of the artists I would love to see work from here are: Lori Earley, Ron English, Sarah Joncas, Ben Kehoe, Travis Louie, Jenn Porreca, Keith Weesner and my buddy David Macdowell. Visit

At the Corey Helford Gallery the amazing Chris Anthony will be showing his new works. The show is called “I’m The Most Normal Person I Know”, I love the name and I know the works will be quite amazing. Visit

Finally we have a monster show at the Windup Gallery. Childrens art is reimagined through artists much like the Monster Engine. There are some great shows at the Windup Gallery, but the all flash site drives me away. It detracts from the show and doesn’t make the site very accessible. I think theres a reason many gallery sites are simple. Visit

I’m always talking about messy, energetic art, well this one satisfies all of that quite well. This crazy piece of art is from Kristina Svartz Rydmark an artist out of Sweden.

For this painting she used aquarelle, ink and acrylic. I think I also seem some bleach in there, the lighter color drips have that quality of what bleach looks like when it hits watercolors. I really dig this piece, I love how controlled the face is and those piercing eyes looking at you through all that chaos.

Kristina has a great style, and she knows when to get crazy with the paint and when to calm down.

Anyway, if you want to see more of her work head on over to her site:

Naoto Hattori original for sale, “Krampus”

naoto_lg.gifThis painting was featured in the “Krampus and Christmas” show at the Copro Nason Gallery a while back. There were a lot of really great paintings at the show, this being one of my favorites.

The seller stated that Naoto pieces are usually all sold out. Now many times sellers say this and it isn’t true, especially about prints. But in this case it is true, I can’t think of many times I see his work sold by the original buyers.

Naoto has a crazy style, his work is always a blast to look at and never gets old.

I have had this artist in my list to share for a bit now, about time I share the work right?

This piece is from Walker-Ballantyne-Hill, an illustrator out of Canada with a great style. I like how you can see the wood grain through some of the paint, although I do wish the grain was more extravagant. I think a more intricate grain could add that final punch. She uses a wide variety of tools on each of her works: gauche, ball point pens, tempera and markers. With her style of drawing she is sure to fit right in with the likes of Joshua Taylor and maybe even Zoso.

You can see more of her work here: Walker Ballantyne Homepage

Some artist websites updated

constantlywithin.jpgA few artists that I have been watching and that I have shown here have updated their websites.

The first one is Dean MacDowell (shown), an artist out of Ireland that has a really great style. Along with the new website he also has a shop selling some prints of his work. I think that Dean’s website is a really good example of how an artists site should be clean and simple. The paintings are the focus here. When he wanted to add some flair to the site, he did it with the logo.

Next is John Kolbek that I have featured here a while back. He has a new site as well, and also a prints area. John’s site isn’t as minimal as Dean’s is, but still quite easy to move around in. I like that he didn’t use a flash gallery.

Lastly is photographer Jeremy Brotherton. I think whats most amazing about his site, is that it’s actually a few “blogger” pages linked together. He found a way around having to get a domain name and space to hold the site. So he has a portfolio section, how to section, contact and links. His ingenuity really showed that you can have a portfolio site if your just willing to try something different.

Shooting Gallery “Sundance X” group show

paulchatem.jpgShooting Gallery will be having a show at the Sundance festival entitled “Sundance X”. It opens this saturday in Park City, Utah.

The show will feature work by Shawn Barber, Anne Faith Nichols, Joshua Petker, Kukula, Stella Im Hultberg, Mike Maxwell, Paul Chatem, Travis Louie, Kris Lewis and I guess some surprise artists.

If you head over to the site now you can see some of the work. I really love the piece by Kris Lewis, I can’t think of a painting of his that hasn’t blown me away. Paul Chatem (shown) as well. I got hooked on his work when it was still minimal as far as the feel of the paintings went, he is getting more and more exciting with all the action going on in each piece.

Check out the show here: Sundance X

Lithium Picnic Limited poster sized photo

apnea.jpgTo help with the growing cost of the ridiculous lawsuit against Philip Warner by the “saints” over at Suicide Girls, Philip is offering up some killer limited edition poster sized prints.

These prints are not signed or numbered, but are limited to 100 and are a huge 20″x30″. There will be a new one coming out every month while the trial goes on, let’s hope that isn’t long. The print shown is the first one to be sold so head on over if you want to pick one up.

If your like me and have limited wall space left, you can also head over and pick up one of his smaller photo prints. The prints are either 9″x12″ or 11″x14″ and you have a huge variety to choose from.
