aotd: “Jelly 1″ by Jacqueline Gallagher

Today’s art of the day is from an artist I am now a huge fan of. Her paintings are colorful, skillful and always exciting to look at, and she has recently been posting some drawings that show how great of an artist she is.

The colors in this one are really striking, that jellyfish there has this great translucency to it. And the fingers, I can almost see the sequence of lobbing off the fingers then those jelly tendrils come eeking out. This painting is 11″ x 14″, Oil on canvas. If your becoming as much of a fan of Jacqueline’s work as I am, head on over to her site and check her other work, and keep your eye out, she is posting more and more work.

“Bottleman” by Justin Meyers

Justin Meyers has a show coming up this August at the Modern Arts Midwest Contemporary Gallery in Lincoln, and he has been posting some of the work that will be in the show. This one instantly caught my eye, how could it not catch anyone eyes?

This is charcoal on paper, 22″ x 30″. It looks completely amazing, and honestly my brain is having a hard time believing this is charcoal, that could also be because I stink with charcoals and that Justin is so bloody brilliant with them.

Take a minute, let this piece infect you, and then head on over to his website to see more: JustinMeyersartwork.com

“The Nail” original drawing by Michael Hussar

There is an original drawing available from Michael Hussar. The work was made for a collaborative project with Steve Niles (auther of 30 days of Night) and Rob Zombie. The drawing was used for the cover of their comic “The Nail”

The drawing is unframed, 11″ x 17″ and like all of Michael’s drawings, and paintings for that matter, looks amazing. The cool thing about this drawing, besides looking completely wicked, is that there is the addition of red, the blood color used in the piece. So the drawing has a little but of color in it, and really helps to draw the viewers eye to the face of the character.

Head on over to gawk at it, or bid: The Nail Drawing by Michael Hussar

“Boy of Hell” by Erik Jones

The “Let Them Eat Pancakes : The Hellboy Art Show!” has been up at the Uberbot site for the past week now. I wrote about a print that Stuntkid has in the show in my last weeks article for SFWeekly. Well I thought I would feature one of the original works of the show, and my favorite one has to be “Boy of Hell” by Erik Jones. He has an amazing style of painting and never ceases to amaze me, weather it’s paintings of beautiful women or portraits like this one that just seem to punch you right in the face.

This painting is made from house paint and markers, and from the looks of the site, it’s already framed up for you. head on over to the site to check out the show, and Erik’s painting.

Virtu Art Gallery is a great site, filled with all sorts of amazing prints, from artists like Mark Ryden, Lori Earley, Glenn Barr, Audrey Kawasaki and many others. If you get a chance head on over and take a look at what they have to offer. VirtuArtgallery.com

The Creep Machine is a one person outfit, working on every area of the site like news, interviews, finding new featured artists and trying my best to bring art that you might not have seen before to your monitors every week. So every bit helps.

Thanks
