CRUSTACEAPODS, (MICROBIA III), new from R.S. Connett

R.S. Connett has some new work for you to check out. This new piece is the third is a series, the others being blue and red microbia. This painting is 24″ x 24″ and is acrylic on canvas. I really love how Connett is able to get all these details with acrylic, and able to create works that are filled with a variety of characters but not look cluttered in any way.

For more of his work head on over to his homepage, as well as his eBay page for current works and prints that he has for sale. RSConnett.com

Thanks from Lori Earley

I just wanted to add that Lori wanted to thank everyone that entered the print contest. She said there was a lot of really great poems, and it was hard to pick just one. The one she settled with was the one she felt really captured the essence of the painting.

Hopefully we can get a pick of the print in the new owners house, in the meantime head on over to Lori’s site so you can see the rest of her amazing work. Her store is filled with no less than 10 prints as well, so if you want some of her work on your walls thats a great place to start.

I think this is the perfect month to have sale, and considering the art that is currently in the Creep Machine store, if fits perfect with being a Halloween sale.

The last pieces from the “Attack of the B Movie” art show are in the Creep store, and if you head on over you will see that I lowered the prices of each of them. So if there was a piece you were interested in, now would be a good time to go there and check em out. Of if you haven’t yet please take a look, there are some really great pieces of art in there. Here are just a few that are still in the store.

Winner of Lori Earley print contest!

The winner has now been announced for the Lori Earley print contest. There was a good amount of entries, and once we whittled down the entries to 5, Lori chose the one she enjoyed the most from the 5.

Rachel Tribley!

I want to thank everyone for taking the time to write a poem, and being inspired by the amazing painting that Lori had created. I also want to thank Excellent Virtu Gallery for graciously supplying the print. If you haven’t had a chance, head on over and see the wealth of prints that they carry, and the new prints that keep rolling in.

I’m sure we will have another contest in the next year, so please keep your eyes open. Enjoy your print Rachel.

Featured artists for October, Dan Harding and Michael Ryan

The two featured artists for the month of October are now up. I am a huge fan of both of these artists and I am happy to be able to share them with all the readers of the site. Both artists will be submitting work to some future shows that I have planned, and I will no doubt be featuring their work on the site again. Michael Ryan actually has some new art in the works, and once that is finished and ready to share, you will see it here.

I also want to thank last months featured artists, Justin Degarmo and Ojimbo. Their art is now in the featured artists archive so if you missed it head on over and check them out.

Preview: Family Guy Show at La Luz de Jesus

Coming to the La Luz de Jesus Gallery this coming October 18th is the second Family Guy inpsired art show. This one is called “Family Guy C.R.A.P. (A Collection of Rare Art Pieces)”. There is going to be a great amount of artists in the show, and if its anything like the last one its going to have some really killer art in it.

I just wanted to share one of the pieces that will be in the show. It’s from Dan May, and as you can see its of Stewie. The painting is entitled “What the Devil?” and is acrylic on wood, 8″ x 10″. This has to be one of the coolest paintings of Stewie I have ever seen. The color, the stylized features of the face, the little horns and those sketchy eyes of his. This painting absolutely glows. I really hope there are some prints made from this piece, either from the gallery or Dan directly (hint…hint).

The show will hopefully be online to view this coming Saturday, I will surely post about it again but keep an eye out anyway.

Danielle E original acrylics for sale

It was a little over a year ago that I featured the first painting as art of the day, and I just noticed that Danielle added this painting to her Etsy account. She has a whole mess of great paintings for sale there, many of them have been lowered in price as well for your holiday enjoyment.

Danielle has a really great style of drawing and painting, and I think these painting is a great example of the expressions that she able to get in her characters. I really dig the second one, the colors and lines in the face are perfect.
Head on over and check out her store for this piece, and many others.

Review: Kuksi, Louie & Helnwein at Shooting Gallery SF

This past Saturday night the Kris Kuski, Travis Louie and Mercedes Helnwein show opened up at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco. This was one show that I wasn’t going to miss, so I hopped on the bus and spent the 2 hour trip thinking about how cool it was going to be to finally see some of these works in person.

I go there early enough to take some unobstructed photos of the work, since my lens doesn’t allow me a lot of working room, but it is super sharp. The Travis Louie pieces were amazing, and some of my favorite works by him. I also gained a good appreciation for Mercedes Helnwein’s work, she really knows how to rock that graphite. It was Kris Kuksi’s work that had me captivated all nigh though. Seeing his work online is amazing, but you have to see it in person to truly appreciate how intricate and grand these works really are. I took a whole mess of photos and have added them to my Flickr. Head on over and take a look.

Apricot Mantle with a newly launched website

I featured the work of this amazing artist just a while back with his “Grudge” inspired piece, “Lady Emnity”.
Well, he just launched his homepage and now you can head on over and check out all of his work, as well as stay current with what the artist will be doing in the future.

If you take a look at his gallery, you can see that not only are his pieces amazing in color and design, but the frames are a work of art in themselves. I think a frame often has the ability to really compliment the work, and it can quite often hinder the work if not chosen correctly. Well in this case you are seeing frames specifically designed for each piece, and a continuation of the work as well. The piece featured below, “Brookhaven Nurse” is inspired by the Silent Hill video games, and if you view the work on his site you can see the amazing frame he made for it. Just click “view larger” on each one of the pieces to see the works all framed up.
