“Hare”, James Jean Show Poster

James Jean has a solo show coming up at the Jonathan Levine Gallery this coming January. The show is going to be amazing and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us all. The Levine Gallery always has the images from the show up super fast, and the site is a joy to browse around in.

It looks like James has put up a downloadable version of the show poster up on his site. You can print it out pretty big, I got mine to around 10″ x 12″ and it looks fantastic, I have some Rives BFK to print this onto as well. Grab some nice paper and go to town, he said you can “Feel free to download, distribute, print out, and share with friends, family, and uninitiates.” Thank to Hi-Fructose to this news.

Head on over to grab the print: Process Recess

“Flying Fish” print by Amy Sol

The “Flying Fish” print has been sold out on Amy’s site for a bit now, but there are still some left over at Excellent Virtu. This is quite an amazing print, and if I remember right it sold out very fast. If you look on eBay there is actually a “Flying Fish” print right now for $375.

Head on over to the Excellent Virtu site and see that they have it for the same price that Amy was selling it for, $250. The other benefit is knowing that they take care of their prints, and ship them so that they could withstand an attack.

There is really only one show opening up this weekend, but what a great show it is.
Sean Christopher, Stella Im Hultberg & Lyle Motley are having a show open at the Limited Addiction Gallery. The show is now online to view and looks amazing.

The folks over at Arrested Motion have also interviewed Stella, so it would be good to check that out as well. Stella Interview @ Arrested Motion

New limited editon print by Adam Flores

San Francisco based artist Adam Flores has a new limited edition giclee print available through Curbs and Stoops. The idea of the site “is working towards increasing the accessibility of art across a diverse range of socioeconomic and cultural communities.” Along with Adam’s print you can also find prints by Adrienne Benitez, Contessa Trujillo, Jeffrey Pena, Pete Doolittle and Steph Chard. You might remember Steph as the featured artist back in April.

The print by Adam is 16″ x 22″, signed and numbered in an edition of 50. The work is entitled “”Get the Fuck off my Grass.” What a killer name. I really dig Adam’s work, the new worlds that he is able to create, the colors and for having a style that is very unique. Head on over and check it out.

The Lowbrow Art Sale: Nov. 25th

This weeks article features prints by Calma, Jonathan Viner, Anne Faith Nichols, Ana Bagayan & Dan May. Check it out: Here

Original works by Chloe Cumming

Chloe is an artist out of Bridport, UK. She has recently put some works up for sale on Etsy, and I had to share them here. She has a very dynamic style, one that is mixed very well with caricature. Her works kind of look like Kent Williams intermingled with a dash of Sebastian Kruger or John Kricfalusi.

She has works in both oil as well as graphite. These are a blast to look at, and I would love to see the painting being done in real time. Here are three select pieces that you will find in her shop, head on over for the rest. Chloe Cumming Etsy Store

Shows this weekend: “Line Weight”, Kris Kuksi and “Skip the Mall”

Looks like all the shows are opening on Saturday this weekend.

“Skip the Mall” is a group show at the Black Maria Gallery featuring work by Brezo, Heather Watts, Saratoga Sake, Ken Garduno, Tom Haubrick and many others. The show is online right now, as well as work by Juri Ueda that is also opening the same day. Blackmariagallery.com

“Line Weight” is a group show at the Gallery Nucleus. It features drawings by James Jean, Luke Chueh, Mari Inukai, Richard Kirk, Ronald Kurniawan, Moki, Jaime Zollars, Vania Zouravliov, Christine Nguyen, and David Jien. What a killer lineup. GalleryNucleus.com

Jonathan Levine Gallery has two shows opening: “Voyeur” new works by Shag and “Novo Mundo” by Stephan Doitschnioff (aka Calma). Both shows are up for viewing. I really dig the work of Calma, it also looks like has a limited edition silkscreen available. JonathanLevineGallery.com

Joshua Liner Gallery also has two solo shows opening: “Imminent Utopia” by Kris Kuksi and “Departure” by Pat Rocha. Both shows are online, and they look amazing. The online gallery now has this “magnifying glass” addition, and for Kris Kuksi’s sculptures it helps a great deal to see all the details he puts in these works. JoshuaLinerGallery.com

Merry Karnowsky Gallery has two solo shows opening: “Inhuman Oddities” by Travis Louie and “Super Systems” by Kill Pixie. Looks like the site is getting redone so no work to see right now. MkGallery.com

aotd: “Fiddle Fatale” by Paul Chatem

Paul is no doubt one of my favorite artists, so I always look forward to any new work that he has. He recently added some new images to his site, as well as updated his show list. This coming December 6th he will participate in the 3rd installment of the “”Don’t Wake Daddy” Group show at Gallery Feinkunst Kruger in Germany.

The piece featured here is entitled “Fiddle Fatale” and is 18″ x 24″. I really love the great amount of texture he is able to get and yet the paint and surface of the work is very flat. The one thing that always amazes me, is how perfect the lines he frames the work in are. I also dig the dual sets of eyes in this one, and the fact that not only is she framed with the striping but also the birds.

“Anumodana”, new print by Naoto Hattori

Naoto Hattori has just updated his online print shop with a new limited edition giclee print. The print is 16″ x 20″ in a signed and numbered edition of 100.

I always love seeing new works from this artist, there is just so much to look at and his work always surprises me. I love the look on the dogs face in that close-up.

aotd: “Waterbirth” by Ana Bagayan

Ana Bagayan has updated her website, flickr and blog. I was looking around and saw this image and just had to share it. The piece is entitled “Waterbirth” and as she says on her flickr account “Waterbirth is supposedly a gentle and less painful way to give birth.”

This painting trips me right out, I think thats what I like about it so much. It’s nice every now and then to get your brains shaken a bit.
