“The Exiles” print by Brian Despain
A Paper Tiger has just released a new limited edition print, this new one is from Brian Despain. The print is 12″ x 14.5″ signed and numbered in an edition of only 25.
The site gave a little description of what the piece is all about: “The Exiles represents honor and dignity in the face of adversity. An unlikely royal couple stands proud but alone under a tumultuous sky, their crowns, a symbol of their former state, lift from their brows to hover like ghostly halos while dead leaves dance about them on winds of change.”
It’s a great print, from an amazing artist. That little gnome is too cool.

Chris Roberts prints @ Rue Morgue
Rue Morgue Magazine has some new prints in their online shop, these new ones are from Chris Roberts. Having worked in the film and television industry, you can clearly see that Chris is a big fan of classic horror. You can see in the two works, “HAREM SCAREM” inspired by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres painting “La Grande Odalisque” and the third painting “DEATH OF GILLMAN” inspired by Jacques-Louis David’s “Death of Marat” painting, that he is also knowledgeable about art history.
The originals look to be still available on the site, each one being acrylic on illustration board. There are also signed prints of each painting up for grabs too.

Photos: Todd Schorr “The World We Live In” @ Merry Karnowsky Gallery
Todd Schorr’s latest solo show “The World We Live In” opened up this past weekend, and from the looks of it was an amazing reception. Red Carpet treatment, paparazzi, celebrities and press only policy when it came to taking pictures. Lucky for all of us fans that couldn’t make it, the folks over at Arrested Motion were there and took a whole mess of photos.
No word yet on the work being on view at the galleries website. There were also some prints at the show, I hope they pop up online somewhere if they were not sold out at the show.

Art of the Day: “The Playboy Mansion” by Antonio Roybal
Antonio Roybal is an artist out of New Mexico, he is mostly self-taught but also studied with Austrian painter Ernst Fuchs. His work is very surreal and filled with iconographic elements. The painting shown is 22.5″ x 26.5″ egg tempera and oil on wood panel. The painting was done using the mische technique, which is said to be the way the Flemish masters such as Jan Van Eyck painted.
Antonio put this painting up on his Etsy site so “Instead of selling it at a gallery, I thought I would sell it on here for those who can’t make it to the galleries.”
Greg “Craola” Simkins on Sketch Theatre
It was just a bit ago that the “Art of Sketch Theatre” opened at the Gnomon Gallery and now the site has brought us another video. This new one is from Greg “Craola” Simkins and is his first video for the site.
Greg is a phenomenal artist, I love watching the character in this one develop out of what looks like nothing more and smudges and highlights. Lets hope that Greg becomes a regular on the site.
