Artist of the Day: Steven Daily

Steven Daily is an artist out of Hollywood, CA. He has a great style, and has been making some art lately that has really been catching my eye. He also partpicated in the latest “Gag me with a Toon 2″ show, and even has some images from the reception to share on Flickr Here
The first painting, “Porcelain” is acrylic on canvas and was a commission piece. Even though she looks like a certain Disney Character, he was not inspired by that. The second one was a gift and is of “Face Bones” from Metalocalypse. It looks amazing, what a gift!

His personal site seems to be down, but you can still catch him on Myspace Steven Daily Myspace

New originals by Naoto Hattori

Naoto Hattori has added a few new original paintings to his online shop. Whenever he does this, they tend to go pretty fast. All of the new paintings are miniatures, so none of them are over 4″ x 6″, until the frames are added at least.

Art of the Day: “Openlicious” by Benjamin Sea

It was almost a year ago this month that I last featured Benjamin’s art for the ‘art of the day” section. He has been posting some amazing art since then, and participating in all sorts of great art shows. He added this new painting to his Etsy shop a while back and I wanted to share it. The painting is acrylic on wood and is roughly 16″ x 18″. I really love the layout and the colors that he has used in this one. His shop is filled with all sorts of collectibles and painting, make sure you take a look.

“Pretty Gross”, new art book by Stuntkid

Jason Levesque aka Stuntkid has let loose a new art book. “Pretty Gross” is 8.5″ x 11″ perfect bound, full color and 82 pages of “finished work, sketches and photographs of work you’ve seen and some you haven’t.”
The book is available via Lulu, while I’m not familiar with the quality of the books I have heard nothing bad either. The one cool feature is the site allows you to preview the book. If the preview is any indicator of the book, the images will fill the whole page.

Preview: Coop @ Corey Helford Gallery

Coming this Friday, May 29th to the Corey Helford Gallery is the latest solo show of new works by Coop. It’s his first exhibition in past three years, and looks amazing. There is a killer feature of his new works in the latest issue of Juxtapoz (May,09). These new painting are massive, and are a mixture of painting, stencils and silk screening. The halftones look great and are mostly hand painted. Daily Du Jour has a studio visit posted on the site, really shows how big the paintings are.

For now here is a few preview images of some of the work. For the full preview, contact the gallery. rs@coreyhelfordgallery.com
