Prints: “Saying Goodbye” by Audrey Kawasaki

Dropping this Saturday, August 22nd at 3pm PST is a new print from Audrey Kawasaki. “Saying Goodbye” is 19″ x 23″ with an 18″ x 22″ image area, signed and numbered in an edition of 200. The print is $220, but can also come framed for $480.

It a great print, I like how she added more background elements to this piece. Something I wish she would do more often. This print is going to sell out instantly, like they always do. So if your looking for this print keep an eye on the page, or else wait for it to show up on ebay.

Review: Shawn Barber “Tattooed Portraits” @ Shooting Gallery

Right after seeing the Moki exhibition I swung by the Shooting Gallery to check out Shawn Barber’s “Tattooed Portraits” series. His last solo show was the “Tattooed Portraits: “Los Angeles” at the Billy Shire Fine Arts over a year ago. In that show he had a few watercolor paintings of artists hands, I was looking forward to seeing some of those here, but regardless I was happy to see these new works.

Moki @ Jack Fischer Gallery

I took a break for the weekend the visit some family as well as prepare for the next semester of school that is quickly approaching. While I managed to miss a couple of show openings, I was able to swing by and check out the art on my way home. The first show that I saw was the solo exhibition of German artist Moki at the Jack Fischer Gallery.

This was the first time that I have been to this gallery, it looked nice inside the building it was in but the whole setup was not as laid back as many of the galleries I visit. I was looking forward to seeing this artists work in person, as the pictures I have seen on the net look amazing, but I wanted to see in person how good these paintings really were. I have read a few criticisms that state that Moki needs to mature a bit more in her work, and possibly become more cohesive, I couldn’t disagree more. This body of work was not only extremely impressive, but was also better than many of the shows I have seen this past year.

Prints: “Silence” by Ana Bagayan

Ana Bagayan has just released a print based on the amazing Silence of the Lambs inspired painting she exhibited in the Crazy 4 Cult 3D show this past month. “Silence” is 15 x 20″ on 17 x 22″ Hahnemuhle fine art paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 50 for $75.
This was easily one of the top paintings in the show, it’s a beautiful image and I’m really glad she made it into a print.

Ana also has another print up for grabs, this one can be purchased from the Lunch Bunch site, a project “of two friends that get together once a week to create home-made meal packages to pass out to the homeless of Los Angeles”. The print is 6.5 by 9″ with 1″ border on Hahnemuhle paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 100 for only $25. The great part is that 100% of the proceeds go to the Lunch Bunch project. Each order will feed 12 people! So you get a nice print, and to help people at the same time.
