“Haitian Girl” print by David Choe

Hemway Industries has just released a print by David Choe entitled “Haitian Girl”. “Personally paying for the cost of the prints, David Choe created “Haitian Girl” with all proceeds going to Yéle Haiti, a foundation created by Wyclef Jean.” The print is 18″ x 24″ on archival paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 50. The print will not ship until February 21st. I have a feeling this will sell out fast as most of David prints do.

“Evening” print by Glenn Barr from Pressure Printing

It’s always exciting when Pressure Printing releases a new print. The quality and features of their prints is top notch. Looks like they just released a new print from Glenn Barr. “Evening” is a giclee print on Hahnemühle German Etching paper, which was then inlaid into debossed 300gsm Arches watercolor paper. The paper is embossed with printer’s chop, and also comes with a custom-designed, perforated, signed and numbered certificate of authenticity. The print is 30” x 18.5” with an image size of 23” × 11”, signed and numbered in an edition of 50. I’m sure I have raved before of how much of a fan I am of Glenn’s art, and a print like this made by Pressure Printing is just too good to be true.

Artist Profiles: Kate MacDowell

Kate MacDowell has not only traveled around the world for inspiration, but has also studied at a variety of institutions in Oregon and North Carolina. She states that her work is “in part responses to environmental stressors including climate change, toxic pollution, and gm crops.” Each piece is hand sculpted out of porcelain. Every little detail is made piece by piece and then added to the final form. The finished works are stunning. A few of the sculptures have been fitted to be lit from the inside. It looks great in the photos, but I am sure it is an exciting effect when seen up close.

Art of the Day: “Onawa” by Michael Shapcott

Michael Shapcott is in the process of making a new website, and in the meantime has been making some very exciting paintings. The latest paintings have been smaller than most of his work has, and has this perfect blend of materials and textures. One of the latest paintings is “Onawa”, which is the first of a new series and is 8.5″ x 11″ Graphite, Acrylic, and Oil on Illustration Board. I really like this new direction Michael is going and look forward to more works. “Onawa” is available for sale over at Michael’s Etsy Shop, and he even made a new painting video that shows how “Onawa” was made. Check it out: Painting a Painting with Michael Shapcott No. 5
