aotd: “Jake and the decision”

Todays art of the day, is from german illustrator Alex Wucherer. He works both digitally and traditionally, and it’s often hard to tell if some of his digital work has been mislabeled.

Such as this one, it’s digital but looks so much like oil paint. This just goes to show that having understanding of traditional media can really give the digital work a different feel. I really dig the character in this piece, he has that same stylized kind of figure that you might see in a Joe Sorren piece, but a little more tame.

This piece also starts a new feature for the Creep, iconography. Not all pieces have icons in them, but when they do I’ll try to point them out, and I encourage readers to post comments sharing what they think the iconography means. So in this piece we see, scissors, string, paper boat, moon and water. Now it doesn’t necessarily mean that each element means something significant, but talking about them helps to drink in the artwork.

    Great idea Creep,

I’d love to be able to comment on great art with phrases others than “That’s Cool”.

    Looking forward to the conversation
