“Subtleties of Character” @ WWA Gallery

Omn Thursday, December 10th, a group show curated by Dan Barry entitled “Subtleties of Character” opened at the WWA Gallery. This group show features artwork by Glenn Barr, Ana Bagayan, Matt Dangler, Richard J Frost, Jeremiah Ketner, Luis Lorenzana, Mia Makila, Buddy Nestor, Kevin Peterson, Saratoga Sake, Nouar, Jittagarn Kaewtinkoy, and many more. There is some really great work in this show, I was happy to see some drawings by Buddy Nestor. His drawing style is just as captivating as his paintings, I hope he releases some more drawings soon as these ones sold out very fast. I also really liked Glenn Barr’s “Idyll Worship”, and it just so happens that Glenn has a print of the study over at his shop (here).

Travis Louie’s “The Ghost of Delilah and Other Stories” @ G1988

Travis Louie’s latest solo show, “The Ghost of Delilah and Other Stories”, opened this Thursday December 2nd at the Los Angeles Gallery 1988. The show consists mainly of drawings, many of which are collaborations with other artists such as Zoetica Ebb, John Park, Ewelina Ferruso, Chet Zar, Molly Crabapple, Fred Harper, Lola, Dave Chung, Greg ‘Craola’ Simkins, and more. I heard that John Cebollero was also one of the artists that Travis collaborated with, but that drawing doesn’t seem to be on the website. It’s a great looking show, and is exciting to see how the artists work comes together. For the most part all of the collaborations look killer.

“Liberatio of Mia” by Apricot Mantle & Jessica Ward

For the “Feminality Art Show” taking place at Miami’s Independent Thinkers Satellite Fair/Art Basel Casa Wynwood Miami, FL December, Apricot Mantle and his wife Jessica Ward collaborated on a drawing together. “Liberatio of Mia” is 19″ x 15″ colored pencil on illustration board, with Jessica Ward doing the initial drawing and then Apricot adding the colored pencils. This is a beautiful collaboration work, and I do hope they choose to do this again. It’s not surprising that their styles flow so well together.

New oil studies by Chet Zar

Over the Holiday, Chet Zar added a bunch of new oil studies to his online shop. So, while many people were fighting over cheap DVD players and anything else Black Friday has to throw at consumers, fans were given the chance to pick up a 5″ x 7″, framed oil study from from Zar. While there is still a few of the studies available, most of them have sold out. I thought I would post them here anyway, so fans can take a look at the studies, and it also gives a great peek into the working process Chet Zar has.
