Review: Crazy 4 Cult 4 by Apricot Mantle
The Creep Machine was lucky to get one of the participants of the Crazy 4 Cult 4 show, Apricot Mantle, to not only take some photos of the event for us, but write a review as well. Hit the link to see the rest of the photos and the review. Hopefully we can talk Apricot into doing this more often.

Joshua Clay goes digital with Starcraft
Joshua Clay has said he was always anti-digital, and has stuck to using traditional mediums for his work. He recently entered a contest to make a propaganda poster for the new Starcraft 2 game, and turned his pencil sketch into a digital piece. If this truly is his first digital work, I can’t wait to see what it will look like when he really gets into the medium. To see the full digitally colored poster, and to even vote for the piece and show Joshua how much his work rules, head on over to his site.

Preview: Crazy 4 Cult 4
The group show Crazy 4 Cult is now back again for the fourth installment. The full title “Crazy 4 Cult 4: The Case of the Redundant Number”, will feature work inspired by cult movies from a wide range of amazing artists. Just a few of those participating are: Allison Sommers, Anne-Julie Aubrey, Apricot Mantle, Casey Weldon, Chet Zar, Chris Murray, Dan May, Dave MacDowell, Ewelina Ferruso, Gene Guynn, Joe Scarano, Ken Garduno, Ken Keirns, N.C. Winter, Rich Pellegrino, Scott Campbell, Stella Im Hultberg, Tom Haubrick, and many more. Some are veterans of the group show, and many are new. The past three shows seemed to have been dominated by just a handful of movies, Donnie Darko, The Big Lebowski, Edward Scissorhands, and Willy Wonka. There are so many amazing cult movies, I do hope some of them are given the same treatment some of the repeat titles have. Here is a short preview of some of the works that have been posted around the web, or graciously shared with the Creep Machine. Hit the jump-link to see the full preview.

“America’s Favorite” prints by Shepard Fairey
After his long run of figurative works, Shepard Fairey will be releasing a new print this coming Thursday, July 8th. “America’s Favorite” is in response to America’s dependance on oil, and a tribute of sorts to artist Ed Ruscha and his “Standard Station” series of works. Although this print was made before the BP oil disaster, the print is a perfect visual reminder that the days of oil should be on the way out. There are two variants of the print, red and silver, each 18″ x 24″ print is limited to an edition of 400 and goes for $50 each.

“Saint Elmo’s Fire” print by Robert Bowen
San Francisco based artist Robert Bowen, has just added a new print to his online shop. “Saint Elmo’s Fire” is 11″ x 14″ on acid free velvet cotton paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 50 for $25 each. The pose of the figure and the inclusion of the bird reminds me of many paintings of Saint Francis of Assisi, especially those paintings showing him receiving the stigmata.
