The “Let Them Eat Pancakes : The Hellboy Art Show!” has been up at the Uberbot site for the past week now. I wrote about a print that Stuntkid has in the show in my last weeks article for SFWeekly. Well I thought I would feature one of the original works of the show, and my favorite one has to be “Boy of Hell” by Erik Jones. He has an amazing style of painting and never ceases to amaze me, weather it’s paintings of beautiful women or portraits like this one that just seem to punch you right in the face.

This painting is made from house paint and markers, and from the looks of the site, it’s already framed up for you. head on over to the site to check out the show, and Erik’s painting.

As you’ll notice in the sidebar the Creep Machine has a new sponsor. Along with artists John Cebollero & R.S. Connett, Excellent Virtu Gallery out of Indiana has jumped on board.

Excellent Virtu is a great site, filled with all sorts of amazing prints, from artists like Mark Ryden, Lori Earley, Glenn Barr, Audrey Kawasaki and many others. If you get a chance head on over and take a look at what they have to offer. ExcellentVirtu.com

The Creep Machine is a one person outfit, working on every area of the site like news, interviews, finding new featured artists and trying my best to bring art that you might not have seen before to your monitors every week. So every bit helps.

Thanks

Justin Kamerer, otherwise known as Angryblue, has a new print available in his online shop. The print is entitled “Dusk” and is a 2 color serigraph on heavy white stock, 14″ x 24″. The print is signed and numbered, and limited to an edition of 75. This new print was “Hand printed at Crackhead Press in Louisville, KY”. It’s only $25, which is a killer price for a print that looks this good. Justin’s print look very amazing in person, and I know this new one is no different.

Here are a few shows that opened this weekend that you can now check out online.

Erik Otto’s solo show, opened up at the Shooting Gallery in Sf. I really dig this new batch of work that he is coming up with. Head on over and check it out: Erik Otto @ Shooting Gallery SF

“Strangely Mannered” opening on Friday at the Gallery 1988 in SF. The show features work by Travis Louie, Scott Scheidly, Joe Vaux & Brandt Peters. I was able to make it to the reception, it was a blast and was able to talk to Travis, Tanem Davidson (Newbrow Documentary) and Gene Guynn otherwise known as Rhino Barking Sparrow. Well worth the 2 hour bus ride!! Check out the work here: Strangely Mannered @ g1988sf and I also have some pics on Flickr here: “Strangely Mannered on Flickr

“4 on the Floor” opened this Saturday at “The Gallery” in Atlanta. The show features work by David MacDowell, Brandi Read, Emma Mount & Jessica Elaine Blinkhorn. There are some really amazing pieces in this show, and I know the prices are too good to be true for some of them. Head on over and take a look. 4 on the Floor Group Show

Lori Earley has just launched her new website, and it looks amazing. There are still some flash elements to it, like the gallery and it’s zoom feature, but overall the site is very easy to navigate and looks killer with her artwork.

She has also re-released a print of her painting “The Wish” (shown). The print is 30″ x 40″ and is limited to 100. Head on over to her new site, take a look and maybe grab a print.

This painting by Heather Watts was done for the “Attack of the B Movie Show”. It was one of the more unique works in the show, as not only is it super cool looking, but it’s acrylic on velvet!

Heather Watts is known for her Tiki genre paintings, and this one fits quite well in that scheme, but it also hits the zombie fan. The figure in the works in a character from the Planet of the Apes, but as you can see it’s been “zombified!!”. This piece looks amazing in person, and honestly makes me want to design a room around this painting. This one is still available in the Creep Store and the price is very nice. Art of the day »

[17 Jul 2008 | No Comment ]

Today’s art of the day comes from Christina Beller. She is an illustrator out of Chicago, and works in many mediums but mainly in ink and photoshop.

The work here is a digital manipulation with some painting, but it could easily pass for a pencil sketch when you first look at it. It’s a very dynamic piece, the contrast is exciting and the hair looks amazing. I really like how a good majority of her work has the figure distorted, much like you would see with Egon Schiele, and one of my favorite and more extreme examples Mannerist painter Parmagianino. I think her work would fit perfect next to Natalie Shau in a gallery, both of them have amazing styles and make some really exciting digital art.

She says this is just a doodle, but to me this is a perfect piece of art I would love to see on a wall with a killer frame. I’m sure you all agree.

Check out the rest of her work here: Christina Beller Profile
