I’ve been watching this artist for a while now. Jrulier, makes amazing digital images. Photomanipulation as well as some digital sculpting.

Be sure to check out his main gallery, there is some great images there. No sign of any prints though.

I haven’t chose a photomanipulation yet, and this is one that I liked very much. It looks great, the manipulation of it, is very smooth. It has a nice dark feel to it.

Weekly Art Search #4

May 14, 2007

This week I decided to go looking for some photography. There are a lot of really great photographers out there right now, making works that are just as powerful as any painting or sculpture.

Here are the photos that I found:

“Patty” by Munky Haus
“Yesterday “by Jeremy Brotherton
“My white curbstone” by Bogdan Zwir
“Cloud” by Quentin Lenw
“Pork” hy Rebecca Tillett
“Nowhere Fast” by Gayla Trail

Going along with the opening of Sarah Bereza’s show, I also decided to have one of her works the Art of the Day. Its her self portrait, and is my favorite work she has done.

I love the colors she used in the face, her brushwork is excellent. Most of all the emotion is what gets me, the face shows a lot of emotion and just inst another portrait that shows a person smiling.

I was looking at the pieces in the “Smitten” show, and this sent me a mission to find some work of a similar vein. I found a piece by Naomi Nowak that I really like. Its quite elegant, but at the same time, pretty twisted. Take a close look at the images (click thumbnail) and you’ll see what I mean.

Art of the Day: “Survival of the Fittest”

May 10, 2007

So along with the Weekly Art Search, I thought it would be cool to have a featured image each day. This will hopefully expose some new art, as well as calm down my auction posts.

This first piece is is by Aaron Jasinski, it’s called “Survival of the Fittest” and was one of the pieces at the latest I am 8 Bit show.
I really dig his painting style, his brushwork is exciting and his use of color really makes his paintings look more like oil work than acrylic.

Head on over to his site to see more work: Homepage
He also has a few originals for sale on his Deviantart blog: Jasinksi Originals

Weekly Art Search #3

May 7, 2007

For this weeks search I went looking for work that showed really unique drawing skills, and characters. There are some artists out there that really have a unique way of drawing, a style that is sometimes so out-there that once your infected with it, you can recognize it with no effort at all.

Ken Garduno
Jinyoung Shin
Sean Metcalf
Jérôme Mireault
Travis Millard
Josh Taylor
Benjamin Cee
Vidar Cornelius

Just a bunch of really cool styles here. It’s a nice change of pace when you see art like this, I think this is why i’m so hooked on artists like, Charles Burns, Ben Templesmith & Ashley Wood.

Weekly Art Search #2

April 30, 2007

For this search I went and looked for some work that had to do with some of the movies that I ended up watching this weekend. Shaun of the Dead, Enter the Dragon, and some James Bond flicks. So all of the art of this weeks search, will have to do with these movies somehow.

“Bond” by RisingZan
“Bruce Lee Mosaic” by Mosaika Art
“Shaun and Zombie Ed” by angelgaby
“Shaun” by John Hearn
“Dont Stop me now” by cool-slayer

Video Game art

April 26, 2007

Ever since the new I am 8 Bit show started, I’ve really been into looking for cool video game inspired art. This could be since i’m getting older, and need to be reminded of my youth again. Or just because the art is amazing.

I found some really cool art, I tried to make sure that I found stuff that wasn’t in the new I am 8 Bit show, I might have though, since I haven’t really seen the new show.

“Nintendo” by Nurse-Stimpy
“Super Mario Bros” by Ted McClung
“Know your roots” by belldandies
“Bad Mushroom” by Brandon Reese
“Indifferent the Duck and the Sprite Sculptures” by Justin B. Evans :Senior thesis project. Huge!

And finally the 8BitArtist his whole gallery is inspired by video games.

Weekly Art Search #1

April 23, 2007

I’m always looking up art anyway, so I decided to do a weekly art search. So once a week (most likely the end of the week) ill do a post that showcases some cool works that I have found.

“Bear Hugger” by Mathieu Beaulieu. This really should have been in the I am 8 Bit show.
“War and Peace” by Paul Gerrard. Now this is some great digital art.
“Mathilde” by Hoang Nguyen. I love the colors and texture on this one.
“Blue Demon” by Alberto Cerriteño. The colors are amazing. This whole gallery rocks.
“New Horizon” by Lars Raun. Love this picture, the vignetting really adds to the mood.
