Brandon Vickerd is a sculptor currently working out of Toronto, Canada and is a Professor of Visual Arts at York University. He received his BFA at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and his Masters at the University of Victoria. He has shown work in a huge list of exhibitions, has won more than a dozen awards, and is currently represented by Art Mûr in Montréal. Quoted from his statement Brandon’s work “is an examination of sculpture as a catalyst for critical thought, enriching the audience’s engagement with the physical world through the creation of spectacle.” Looking at the images below, you can see what a spectacle they are. Working in a variety of medium, Brandon has created some truly inspiring sculptures. Take a look at the preview images, and then over to his portfolio for more works and more images of each piece.
The Art of Alvaro Tapia Hidalgo
Alvaro Tapia Hidalgo is an illustrator working out of Granada, Spain. Along with motion graphics, web design, and logos, he is also an amazing illustrator with a very unique style. It look as though his works are primarily created with Illustrator, and then textures and various brush work are added to the pieces to give them a more unique feel and depth. Some of the works could very easily translate into traditional watercolor portraits, provided the artist used some stencils in the initial setup. I especially like the works based on horror movie icons, with the intense color palettes he uses the juxtaposition of horror and color is amazing.

The art of Kelly McKernan
Kelly McKernan is an artist based out of Atlanta, Georgia. She received her BFA from Kennesaw State University, and has since shown her work in such venues as Gallery Nucleus, Thinkspace Gallery, and Art Basel Miami. As stated in her portfolio, Kelly “illustrates various situations for her female protagonists to interact with through symbolic elements in vague settings.” Take a look at the preview images, and then head over to see the rest of her work and make sure to check out her online store for originals and prints.
The art of Rena Littleson
Rena Littleson, an artist working out of Australia, received her B.A. in contemporary arts in 2005 and Post Graduate Degree in Graphic Design at RMIT in 2006-2007. I first saw her work on Perfect Laughter, a great art blog, and thought I would share her work here as it’s not often artists that create amazing work in pencil is seen here. She did this series of drawings for an upcoming show group show in Melbourne entitled Drawn Again. As you can see Rena is extremely talented with graphite, and aside from creating these photo-realistic drawings, you can also see some more cartoon inspired works on her homepage. So she’s quite versatile as well.
The art of Tania Blanco
Sometimes there are simply too many art sites to visit, and a few of them are almost unbearable when it comes to ads (I won’t mention names). However, the site Artwire.info is still up and running and makes it really easy for fans to find new art such as the works of Spanish artist Tania Blanco. Spending her time between Paris and Valencia, Tania has created an impressive body of work; Multiple art series, has won many awards and grants, and participated in many solo and group exhibitions. A majority of her work has to do with the relationship of mankind and science, whether that is nuclear, microorganisms, and medicine. One such series that caught my eye was the “Sleepdrunk Vademecum”. There is some 3d works, and paintings made solely with acrylic paint on round canvas or wood panels. I love the sterile feel the works have, and since it is about medicine, this feel works perfectly. Check out the rest of Tania’s work at her homepage below.
The Art of Jean-Sebastien Rossbach
French artist Jean-Sebastien Rossbach is a cover artist for Marvel, and has also worked for Ubisoft, Blizzard, Wizards of the Coast, EMI Music, ImagineFX, and many more. Spectrum 17 stated his work “blends a classic painter’s sensibility with cutting edge technology” and I couldn’t agree more. He works not only in digital, but watercolor and gouache which the images featured here are made with. I have been a fan of his work for quite some time, and honestly have no idea why I am just now sharing it. I hope you enjoy his work as much as I do. Hit the jump link for some more images, and make sure to check out his homepage and INPRNT page for some prints.

The Indoor and Outdoor Art of Aryz
I was first introduced to the work of Aryz from Godmachine and a random Twitter post he made. Aryz is a street artist out of Barcelona. He has an amazing style with some intense color palettes. Along with the street art he also does illustrations using graphite and photoshop to color the works in. The colors seen in these pieces is a little more muted, and I like the idea that his indoor work compared to his outdoor work, is still very much attributable to him, but the colors and style change a bit. Head on over to his site to see the rest of work.
The art of Diego Fernandez
Diego Fernandez is an artist working out of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is primarily a digital artist, although you wouldn’t think so by the quality his work has. I have seen some amazing digital illustrations that really fool the eye into believing they were made with oils, watercolors, and even graphite, but these works by Fernandez really had me believing they were acrylic washes. Even though, in many of his works he uses digital programs, it doesn’t seem to matter. I think it is very impressive, that he is at a skill level in which the medium is either unknown, or unimportant. Check out the rest of his work at his portfolio below:
The Art of Melissa Campa
Melissa Campa is an artist working of Mexico, and went to the Universidad de Sonora for her Bachelors in Fine Art. She has already had three solo exhibitions, participated in over 40 group shows, and has received roughly 16 national awards and fellowships. She works mainly with acrylics, graphite, and even colored pencils to create the unique figures and scenes that are featured throughout her work. Take a look at the preview images, which show the variety of mediums she uses, and then over to her portfolio for more.
The art of Jessica Stewart
Jessica Stewart is an artist working out of Melbourne, Australia. As stated in her bio she likes to “draw portraits of dreamers and lovers. Using pencil, paint and pastel she draws ships, homes, animals among all other sorts of symbolic objects to represent a bond, a freedom or maybe an escape from their current situation.” Growing up near the coast is a strong influence in her work and can be seen with the nautical elements many of the drawings have. Her drawings have a very painterly effect to them, and are very effective at pulling you in to the world she has created. I would love to see these in person as I know some of the details are lost when photographed. Also, if you head over to her Flickr you will see more drawings as well as some photography of hers. Make sure to check out her homepage, she has some original works and prints listed in her online shop.

The art of Kilian Eng
Here’s an artist I learned of from one of the fans of the Creep Machine Facebook group. Kilian Eng is an illustrator working out of Stockholm, Sweden. He has a very retro style to his digital illustrations. I have seen a few sites bring up the idea that his work looks like still from an epic animated movie, or something right out of the pages of Heavy Metal magazine. The color palettes and the slight grain that he adds to these images really help to create this nostalgic feel. Head on over to his Behance profile for more work to view, he also has a Tumblr with some latest works.
The art of Tim Maclean
An artist working of of the Highlands of Scotland, Tim Maclean. He works primarily with acrylics and has a very unique style of drawing. The distorted and stylized figures he creates can be seen clearly in his preliminary drawings as well. His website seems to be under construction, but you can check his work out on Flickr as well as Society6.
