Ladies of the Evil Dead Extreme Edition @ Fright Rags

Fright Rags has another shirt/print combo only this time it’s a little bit more intense than the Night of the Living Dead combo I featured a while back. This new set is dedicated to the “Ladies of the Evil Dead”, those crazy gals that did such a wonderful job freaking fans out in the first installment of the Evil Dead series. The artwork is designed by Jeff Zornow, who has done so many of the designs found at the site. There is a 10-color screenprinted shirt, an 11″ x 17″ poster print featuring the same art but with signatures from each of the ladies. It also comes with a vial of actual dirt from the location of the filming, all wrapper in a box made to look like the cellar door from the movie. For fans of the movie this is a killer collectors set, that is limited and as of now only 39 are left.

Ben Tolman in Volume 16 of Direct Art Magazine

I went into my local bookstore to grab the latest copy of Hi-Fructose, and of course it wasn’t there yet, but I did happen to notice an art magazine that I have never seen before. What drew me to it was the cover art created by previously featured artist Ben Tolman. The magazine was faily priced at $4.95 so I grabbed a copy and am very happy I did. This issue of Direct Art is volume 16 so its’ clearly been around a while. It’s is not filled with a lot of articles, but does have some great art and of course ads, but the ads do a good job of alerting you to upcoming shows and even artists you might not have heard of before, such as Dominic Rouse. Previous features can be found in the sites Archives.

If you can’t get a copy at your local bookstore, you can grab one off the site: Direct Art Magazine

The Brush Project 2

About 2 years ago, the very first Brush Project was started. The idea was that artists would send in used brushes, sign them and then the fans could score a great collectible while helping out a charity. The auction is now in full swing, and will go until this Thursday, October 6th. The brushes will be on display until October 11th and then shipped to the new owner.

There is a great list of artists participating this year, Tara McPherson (shown), Bob, Dob, Chris Mars, Dan May, Jeff Soto, Jason Limon, Jeremiah Ketner, Lori Early, Travis Lampe and many more. For the full list, and to bid head on over to the online auctions.

The third installment in the Process Recess book series is now available. PR Vol 3 is now available from James’ online shop. The limited edition of the book has now sold out, but this version is ready to go. The book is hardcover, 248 4c pages, 9″ x 6″ with a die-cut and embossed cover for $34.95.
