Released: “Fables: Covers” book by James Jean

Every week when I go out to pick up the latest comics, I have a bad habit of often buying a few based on how amazing the cover is. Fables is one of those comics. I am told the stories are great, but it’s really the art by James Jean on the cover that draws me in.

If you head on over to his website, he now has a book filled with covers, sketches and progress shots. The book is hardbound, 208 pages, 2-sided 4 color dust jacket, black foil embossing and 1 Color tipped-in plate on the case. The book is also signed if you buy it from his online shop, or you can get it signed in person at the Gallery Nucleus on November 29th. The book looks amazing and will be a good replacement for all the loose Fables comics I have.

David Hochbaum Catalogue pre-order

New York artist David Hochbaum has a solo show coming up at the Strychnin Gallery in Berlin this coming October 9th, I will surely talk about this show again. The show is entitled “The Mysterious Action of Memory”. David makes this amazing constructions with photo imagery and paint.

A catalogue of his works is available for pre-order as we speak. There is soft and hardcover versions of the catalogue. The hardcover version is limited to 49 copies, it is signed and numbered by the artist. The intro of the book is written by “Carlo McCormick, famous culture critic, writer and curator from NYC.”

This s going to be an amazing show, and I know the catalogue will be a great addition if you are building a nice art library, like myself….

“Tolerance” art book by Chris Mars now available

It looks like the art book “Tolerance” by Chris Mars is now available on the Last Gasp website.

The book is hardcover, and is a whopping 176 pages. Now obviously thats not the Iliad or War and Peace, but as far as art books go its a great size. Chris’ work looks amazing in person, and I think the next best choice, the only choice, is a book filled with high resolution images of his works.

I’ll post a review once mine shows up. If you feel like making an impulse buy like I did, head on over to Last Gasp and grab one. LastGasp.com

Ashley Wood’s “Les Mort 13″ figure pre-order

Ashley Wood’s latest figure is now ready for pre-order over on his site. The figure is 12″ tall and is yours for the price of $130, which also ships to you no matter where you are in the world, free.

I like the Bertie toys that he has released but this figure, along with being more affordable, looks pretty cool. It ships at the end of August, but no reason to wait. Head on over to his Bambaland Store and check it out. Bambalandstore.com

WWR “Bertie” by Ashley Wood now for sale

ashleywood_bertie.jpg
The very first collectible toy by Ashley Wood is now available. WWR “Bertie” comes in two different versions, Desert Rat Bertie and Dirty Deeds Bertie. The latter is my favorite, the color is a little more my style.

The first 40 orders for each toy comes with a limited edition signed giclee print (shown). I like the print a lot, I wish this was offered on it’s own. I don’t collect many toys, but I am a big fan of prints. Anyway, both versions of the toys are ready to order so head on over if you want to grab one, or just check em out.

John Cebollero 2008 sketchbook for sale

cebollero_sketchbook.jpg
John Cebollero has a sketchbook available on his site right now. The book was first released at the 2008 New York Comic Con, but for those of us that weren’t able to attend that function, we can get his book from his site.

The book is 24 pages, features 26 drawings and illustrations and is signed on the very first page. It also features a never before seen collaboration with Richard Corben. This sketchbook will set you back less than a meal at a fast food joint, so there is no reason to pass this up. These sketchbooks are limited an edition of 500.

Also, if you look in the Creep Machine store the painting that John submitted to the B Movie Show is still available. It’s quite an amazing painting, it really shows how great John is with paint and how much he rocks with ink.

Tara McPherson Ningyo Gosho Doll Pre-Order

gosho_tara.jpgTara Mcpherson’s Ningyo Gosho doll is an exclusive of Newbury Comics. They are now doing a pre-order for this doll. The doll is limited to 300 pieces, but knowing how long Tara’s toys have lasted in he past this one will surely be scare soon.

The doll looks amazing. The figure itself is a great design and then you add Tara’s amazing color schemes, how could you go wrong? The past toys she has done haven’t been very big but this one is around 10 inches tall.

Head on over if you want to pick one of these guys up.

Ashley Wood’s “World War Robot” preview

desert_bertie_piantjob.jpgI’ve been watching Ashley’s blog for a while, to find out exactly what this “WWR” project is. Well, they now have a preview image of this very cool collectible.

It will be called “WWR Release 1.0 Rothchild Mechanics P-57 AKA Bertie the Pipebomb”. This robot will hit the stores April 2008. I really dig the paintjob on it, it’s 14 inches tall, and the killer part is that it has 43 points of articulation.

The pic says Desert Bertie paintjob, does this mean that there will be more than one paintjob to choose from, or how cool would it be if it was like the Dunny? Design your own Bertie.
