“Inner Child” by Kendrick Mar

In this new area I will review books and items that I have had contact with, galleries I have been lucky enough to visit, and of course painting and prints that I have been able to acquire.

This first piece I am writing on is a painting I got from Kendrick Mar. It’s called “Inner Child” and is oil on canvas. The first thing I noticed when I unwrapped this was his packaging job. He really knows how to make sure the painting is protected, i’ve bought paintings from galleries that were shipped in worse packaging than this.

The painting is 22″x21″ and feels very strong. I found out he stretches his own canvas, and this baby feels sturdy. The painting itself has a nice glow to it, this is a really good example of how pictures will never show how good a painting really is.

In person your able to see how vivid the colors are, and how confident he is in his brush work.
When you step back from it, it really does stand out. I have a few pieces that get lost on the wall. This one doesn’t.

Head over to his site to get a look at his work, if your interested in a piece, just e-mail him.

I think that that’s an excellent work. It’s even very strong as a small jpg image. I love how the background comes alive with just a few strokes.
