The group show “A Place Called Lovely” at Gallery 1988 in San Francisco is now up. The show features work by Camilla d’Errico, Caia Koopman, AmY Sol, Lilly Piri & Krista Huot. The more I see of Camilla d’Errico’s work the more I love it, she really does have an exciting style. This is a great show and I almost would have missed seeing online if I didn’t read about the show in Monica Choy’s blog. She was the curator at the Compound Gallery, and is now back in SF getting ready to bring us some great shows.

The next show is a longer one that is being shown at the Varnish Art Gallery in SF. The show runs from January 15th to March 1st, so you have some time to see it. The show features work by Kenny Mencher (shown). His paintings are all in this realist style, each one showing you a scene that you have to figure out. I can’t wait to see these in person. view the work here.

Menchers use of women as subservants shows that he’s got an issue with the women in his world. Anger and unresolved personel issues show in his artwork. Growing up in the Bronx, NY he has a chip on his shoulder.
