David Kassan finger painting on the Ipad

One of the the things I know many artists were excited about when the Ipad was announced, was the ability to use the device as a sketching/painting device. It would be nice and easy to just bring that thing around and quickly put down some ideas. David Kassan has a video that shows how powerful this tool can really be. Using a new app called “Brushes”, Kassan paints a 3 hour portrait and shows that in the right hands the Ipad can help artists create beautiful works of art, and play games and check your e-mail. Take a look at the video below. Makes me want to get an Ipad now, and be able to paint as well as Kassan can.

Now Online: David Kassan @ Gallery Henoch

March 12th at the Gallery Henoch in New York, a solo show featuring works by David Kassan opened. The show is entitled “Introspections”, and is nothing less than amazing. I love the photo-realistic way that he paints figures, and the grimy, graffiti-laden industrial backgrounds that he places the figures in. I love artwork that is aggressive, and texture filled and at the same time I appreciate beautifully rendered figurative works. I became an instant fan of Kassan’s work, since it so easily holds both of those preferences.

Head on over to the site and check out it all out. Along with the painting they have drawings on exhibit as well, and as you can imagine these are just as spectacular as the paintings.
