Review: Horrorwood @ WWA Gallery
Featured just under a week ago, the Horrorwood group show at the WWA Gallery opened up. Apricot Mantle had some work in the show, and once again I was able to have him review the show and share some photos of the reception.

Nothing beats Halloween…Unless it’s a Halloween spirit embodying art show called HORRORWOOD! The WWA Gallery in Los Angeles really put on a good show this month with 55 artists from all over the place giving their artistic takes on classic Hollywood horror. The Blob, The Wolfman, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Birds, Dracula, Rosemary’s Baby, and Metropolis were some of the choices made by the artists in the show. The variety of styles and techniques was wonderful and inspiring to anyone to walk into the place.

Preview: “Big Tuna” David Lynch Tribute @ Alcove Arts
Coming this Friday July 10th at the Alcove Gallery in Decatur, GA is a group show featuring work inspired by David Lynch films. The lineup of the show is pretty impressive with paintings from such artists as : David MacDowell, Amy Botello, Lesli Ditto, Apricot Mantle, Dan May, Chet Zar and many more. I personally am a fan of themed shows. I know that is makes it difficult sometimes for some artists to fit in, but I think it is often a good example of how an artists style can be pushed to present unique ideas. Some great works that are unexpected also come from themed shows, just look at the art in this preview. I love what David MacDowell submitted as well as Apricot Mantle and another unique handmade frame made out of 1600 black and white pencil erasers!

Crazy 4 Cult 2 reception photos
Well the reception for the latest Crazy 4 Cult 2 show is now over. There was a huge amount of killer work from this show. I love the fact that there was a bit more work inspired by horror movies this time around. I really hope we see some prints of the Naoto Hattori and Chet Zar pieces.
Oldmanmusings.com has some photos of the show over on his Flickr account, one the photos is the one shown here. Wil Wheaton posing next to David Macdowell’s “Stand by Snootch” piece. How cool is that? When David showed me the sketch of the piece, I knew it would be a hit. C’mon, it says “Leech Balls” on Wil’s shirt.

New Works by David MacDowell at Thinkspace Gallery
![]()
David MacDowell has some new paintings available at the ThinkSpace Gallery. Four of them to be precise. “All of them Witches” has been there for a little bit, but there is now three new paintings. “Night of the Hunter”, “Welcome to the Terrordome” (shown) and the very cool “Oompa Loompacino”.
His work is getting more and more sought after, so I was pretty lucky to have two works of his in the B Movie Show. His paintings are really quite amazing to look at in person. Not only does he paint quick, but they are very clean and the colors are amazing. I don’t think pictures on the web will ever show how spectacular most of the work we see really is, and I know first hand that they don’t show how vibrant David’s works are.
If you look in the piece shown above, you will see a small version of the “Queen of the Deep” in it. His work is always a blast to look at, and I am getting quite anxious to see a solo show of his work.
Head over to pick up one of these pieces, or just to gawk at them: David MacDowell originals
Creep Machine Store open, B Movie Show Inside!
The Creep Machine store is no officially open, and as you can see it is filled with art from the “Attack of the B Movie Art Show”.
Just head over to the store link you can see at the top, or use the banner on the bottom there. Thanks to David MacDowell for making the banner for the store.
So check out the work and message me if you want any. I encourage anyone who can make it, to go the reception this Friday night at the Space Gallery in San Francisco.
See you there!
