“Double Vision” group show Curated by EGO @ Bherd Studios Gallery

Seattle based artist EGO (featured) was asked to curate a show at the Bherd Studios Gallery in Seattle, and came up with a unique idea for the show. 8 artists were chosen, each one created a piece of art with no restraints, and then EGO drew names from a hat and each artist reinterpreted the painting they were drawn with. So for instance EGO worked from an Amy Huddelston painting while Amy worked from a John Osgood painting. It’s a killer idea and one that I hope to see more often. The work doesn’t seem to be online yet, but I was sent a couple of images to share here. The show features works by EGO, Amy Huddleston, NKO, Solace, Wayne Liostro, John Osgood, 179, and Parskid.

EGo and Creeps show @ Flatcolor Gallery

A little late on this one, but there is still some time to catch these shows at Flatcolor Gallery in Seattle. EGO’s latest solo show “Eventually, You run out of tomorrows…”, and the Creeps group show featuring work by Larkin, Augie Pagan, Parksid, Chris Sheridan, Brian White, and Derek Noble. This is the perfect show to check out this October, and should be seen simply because the art is that amazing. Last year EGO had a solo show at the gallery and created some beautiful pieces, this show is a great followup.

Halloween 2010 Feature

Halloween is upon us again, one of my favorite times of the year. Not only is it filled with great memories of being a kid, eating too much candy and watching horror movies late into the night, but this season is when some of the creepiest art is made. This is the second year I have posted a Halloween feature, and hopefully this one is even better. Head on over to the feature page and see work by: Chris Murray, Charlie Immer, Apricot Mantle, Scott Move, Naoto Hattori, Jessica Ward, Dean McDowell, Esao Andrews, Brian Smith, Dennis Brown, Dan Harding, Ryan Heshka, Celene Petrulak, Adrian Borda, Ego, Buddy Nestor, Edward Frausto, Laurie Lipton, Dave MacDowell, Jehan Choo, Natalie Shau, Joshua Carlton, Dan Hipp, Dienzo, Sarah Joncas, Chet Zar, Chris Brodahl, JR Williams, Tom Haubrick, Nicole Absher, Larkin, and Nouar.

If there is any art you find creepy, that hasn’t been added to this gallery, add the link to the art in the comments.

Flatcolor Gallery has a bunch of original works by Parskid now available on the site. It looks as though many of the works are from some of his latest shows. There is over 30 original works available, one of which entitled “Separation Anxiety” is a collaboration with EGO. It looks amazing, the two styles work very well with each other.

I am always happy to see new works from Dave MacDowell, he just has the ability to make strikingly colorful work that never fails to surprise. His painting “Lord Of The Onion Rings” (shown first) is definitely one of my favorites of the show. Opening this Thursday, October 1st at the Flatcolor Gallery in Seattle is “Light in the Darkness”; a solo exhibition of new works from the multi-talented artist known as EGO. For the past few months EGO has been creating work for a variety of shows and events, such as “LET THERE BE ART!” .. a project to give a collective voice to the Seattle artists whose talent is all too often unseen and unheard.” presented by City Hostel Seattle. I am very excited to see the new works he has created for this show, but in the meantime I was able to send over a handful of interview questions and even some teaser images.

Art of the Day: “Sic Transit Gloria Mundi” by EGO

Seattle based artist EGO was one of the featured artists here on the Creep Machine, and also had painting on show for the “Attack of the B Movie Show” and the current “This is the End” show. Not only is he an amazing tattoo artist, but also a skilled painter with a very unique style and imagination. I am always happy to see new work from him, and very privileged to have his art in any show that I am able to curate.

The piece shown here is the painting that EGO submitted to the “This is the End” group show. It looks so amazing in person, I wish the pictures were good enough to show how dynamic it really is. Surprisingly the piece is still available, but I have a feeling that his work will get harder to come by with every passing show.
