Opening up this Friday, March 5th is the 13th installment of the “Everything But the Kitsch ‘N Sync” group show at La Luz de Jesus. These shows are packed with art, there is over 150 artists and 300 pieces to look at. This year features a great mix of well known artists, and some up and comers. Bob Dob, Apricot Mantle, Adam Strange, Bonni Reid, Heather Watts, JAW Cooper, Jessica Ward, Jon MacNair, Leslie Ditto, Patrick “Star27″ Deignan, Nathan Ota, Scott Holloway, Trevor Brown are just a few of the artists you can see in this show.

Here is the rundown of the shows that will be opening this weekend.

Friday:
The Alternative Cafe is hosting “This is the End”. Curated by the Creep Machine and featuring work by 25 artists from all over the world. It’s going to be a truly exciting show. Check the work out, it is now online to view. If you can make it the reception is from 7-9pm.

Gallery 1988 SF will open “Sweet Surrender”, a group show featuring work by Krista Huot, Camilla d’Errico, Jennifer Tong and Allison Torneros. The show will be online at noon this Friday.

Definition Gallery has “Melancholy”, featuring new works by Bethany Marchman, Nicholas Harper and Brandon Maldonado

Joshua Liner Gallery has a solo exhibition from Tomokazu Matsuyama entitled “Glancing at the Twin Peak”. The work is online and looks great.

La Luz de Jesus opens “Everything But The Kitschen Sync” 12h annual group show. Some of the artists in this show are: Dave MacDowell, Apricot Mantle, Bob Dob, Nathan Ota, Chris Peters, Sean Stepanoff, Heather Watts, Paul Torres and many more.

Saturday:
Copro Gallery has two shows opening: “Natural Beauties”, Lola’s solo show and “SuperSchool” featuring work by Scott Musgrove, Travis Louie, Gary Baseman, Sas Christian, Chet Zar, Heiko Mueller, Dan May, Martin Wittfooth, Chris Ryniak, Nathan Spoor, Kris Lewis, Carrie Ann Baade, Michael Page, Ana Bagayan, Kevin Peterson, Naoto Hattori, Amy Sol, Francesco LoCastro, Reinier Gamboa, Mia, Brian Viveros, Dan Quintana , Tin and more. Much of the work is online to view, both shows are very strong.

Gallery Nucleus is opening “Home Slice”, a new solo show of Scott Campbell. He has such an amazing style, I can’t wait to see the new works, all of which should be up this weekend.

Looks like all the shows are opening on Saturday this weekend.

“Skip the Mall” is a group show at the Black Maria Gallery featuring work by Brezo, Heather Watts, Saratoga Sake, Ken Garduno, Tom Haubrick and many others. The show is online right now, as well as work by Juri Ueda that is also opening the same day. Blackmariagallery.com

“Line Weight” is a group show at the Gallery Nucleus. It features drawings by James Jean, Luke Chueh, Mari Inukai, Richard Kirk, Ronald Kurniawan, Moki, Jaime Zollars, Vania Zouravliov, Christine Nguyen, and David Jien. What a killer lineup. GalleryNucleus.com

Jonathan Levine Gallery has two shows opening: “Voyeur” new works by Shag and “Novo Mundo” by Stephan Doitschnioff (aka Calma). Both shows are up for viewing. I really dig the work of Calma, it also looks like has a limited edition silkscreen available. JonathanLevineGallery.com

Joshua Liner Gallery also has two solo shows opening: “Imminent Utopia” by Kris Kuksi and “Departure” by Pat Rocha. Both shows are online, and they look amazing. The online gallery now has this “magnifying glass” addition, and for Kris Kuksi’s sculptures it helps a great deal to see all the details he puts in these works. JoshuaLinerGallery.com

Merry Karnowsky Gallery has two solo shows opening: “Inhuman Oddities” by Travis Louie and “Super Systems” by Kill Pixie. Looks like the site is getting redone so no work to see right now. MkGallery.com

This painting by Heather Watts was done for the “Attack of the B Movie Show”. It was one of the more unique works in the show, as not only is it super cool looking, but it’s acrylic on velvet!

Heather Watts is known for her Tiki genre paintings, and this one fits quite well in that scheme, but it also hits the zombie fan. The figure in the works in a character from the Planet of the Apes, but as you can see it’s been “zombified!!”. This piece looks amazing in person, and honestly makes me want to design a room around this painting. This one is still available in the Creep Store and the price is very nice.
