Originals: “Darth Calavera” by Jonathan Bergeron

I’m sure I have stated this before, but just for the record I am a huge fan of Johnny Crap’s work. Whether it is inks or oils, he consistently creates work that is not only unique, but looks amazing. Recently he added an ink drawing to his online shop entitled Darth Calavera, the work has sold but there is now an oil painting of Darth Calavera available in his shop. If you haven’t check out Johnny’s Twitter, Tumblr, Society6, or Website make sure you do that now to keep updated with new art.

“Weirdo Noir” book by Matt Dukes Jordan

The author of the book “Weirdo Deluxe”, is back with a new book talking the gothic and dark art scene. The book is 9″ x 9″, 192 pages and features work from more than 20 artists such as Attaboy, Ana Bagayan, Glenn Barr, Jonathan Bergeron, Ray Ceasar, Jason d’Aquino, Bob Dob, Alex Gross, Sarah Joncas, Annette Hassell, Fred Harper, Dan Kennedy, Laurie Lipton, Travis Louie, Tara McPherson, Skot Olsen, Nathan Ota, Annie Owens, Anthony Pontius, Isabel Samaras, Shag, Dani Tull, Brian Viveros, and Edward Walton Wilcox.
I enjoyed Weirdo Deluxe quite a bit, and this book seems like a good followup. I’m not sure if I agree about the “noir”, or as stated in the description “artists who have embraced the dark side, employing gothic themes in their art.” There are a few artists in that list that have dark works for sure, but maybe I just have a different definition of “dark and gothic”.

New paintings by Johnny Crap

Jonathan Bergeron, otherwise known as Johnny Crap, has added some new paintings to his online shop. Two have sold already, but there is still a couple of very cool paintings, at an amazing price. “Lil Viking” and “Pink Metal” are both oil on wood, the pic of “Lil Viking” is cropped just a bit. I love the idea of “Pink Metal.” I am not the biggest fan of this color, but I think I would make an exception for this painting.
