A while back I Featured the work of Canadian artist, Laura Bifano. She has updated with her blog with some new work, one of which I had to share. “Billy Pilgrim” is based on a character from the popular book “Slaughterhouse Five” by Kurt Vonnegut. This was the book that was instrumental in me subsequently buying every Vonnegut had written. I had an idea in my head how the character would look, and I think Laura pretty much saw the same thing I did. It’s a great image and one that I think would make a great cover, or somehow tied to the book more so that other fans could enjoy it.

Laura Bifano is an artist out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I went on an art hunting spree and was happy to find her artwork in the first 20 minutes or so. She has an absolutely amazing style, full of color and textures as seen in the first painting “Young Bride”. There are elements that have a similar feel to some of the techniques you can see in works by James Jean, Tran Nguyen and Joao Ruas but of course Lauara has her on unique voice here. I like that he paintings also have humor to them, it’s an emotion that many artists seem to overlook.
I am going to try to find out some more information about this artist, but in the meantime make your way to her blog and take a look at the rest of her artworks.
