“Subtleties of Character” @ WWA Gallery

Omn Thursday, December 10th, a group show curated by Dan Barry entitled “Subtleties of Character” opened at the WWA Gallery. This group show features artwork by Glenn Barr, Ana Bagayan, Matt Dangler, Richard J Frost, Jeremiah Ketner, Luis Lorenzana, Mia Makila, Buddy Nestor, Kevin Peterson, Saratoga Sake, Nouar, Jittagarn Kaewtinkoy, and many more. There is some really great work in this show, I was happy to see some drawings by Buddy Nestor. His drawing style is just as captivating as his paintings, I hope he releases some more drawings soon as these ones sold out very fast. I also really liked Glenn Barr’s “Idyll Worship”, and it just so happens that Glenn has a print of the study over at his shop (here).

Review: Get the Lead Out II @ Swoon Gallery

This past August 28th, the Swoon Gallery opened the Get the Lead out II group show. Apricot Mantle was able to head to the show for us, snap some photos and give the Creep Machine another review.

A whirlwind of creativity exploding with graphite onto paper. Get the Lead Out II was a one night only pop-up show at Ronin Gallery featuring artist sketches, pen & ink drawings, watercolors and finished paintings presented by Swoon Gallery. This show was fast, furious, fun and full of precious small to medium artworks to be enjoyed only for one night. It was one of those magical rare shows that gave the viewers a chance to see some rare drawings and sketches coming from some of their favorite painters while also showcasing some artists who use graphite as their primary medium.

“Godseed” print and new site for Matt Dangler

Matt Dangler has just redesigned his website, something that a lot of artists seem to be doing right now but it is the New Year. The new is a lot cleaner looking, and gives you the ability to really zoom in on his paintings so you can really see all the intricacies that go into each one.

Along with the new site he also added a new print to the shop. This print is based off of his “Godseed” drawing that he had at the Paper Pushers show at the Gallery 1988 in San Francisco. The print is 6″ x 10″ on Epson Fine Velvet Art paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 30. The print is $60 and comes shipped flat in a cardboard mailer.
