“Mysterious Strangers” by Derek Albeck @ POVevolving Gallery

This past week, Friday the 13th to be exact, the POVevolving Gallery in Los Angeles opened a new solo show by Derek Albeck. Entitled “Mysterious Strangers”, these new realistic graphite drawings continue his recent works which “depict the disparate, frenzied moments that are usually the domain of the casual snapshot. What makes his use of these images noteworthy, however, is the carefully selected grouping of images that, as a whole, mimic a loose narrative rooted in his own personal history and memories.” The show is now online to view, and the works look amazing. Derek is truly a master when it comes to drawing, and shows that a medium that gets less attention than painting can be very dynamic. Also om the website in an interview with Derek, so while your there to check out the art make sure to take a look at the interview as well.

Attaboy’s solo show opened this past week at the POVevolving gallery. There was a huge amount of photos taken, and can now be found on the gallery site. The folks over at Daily di Jour also did a writeup about the show with some photos.
The show looks amazing, make sure to look at the extremely limited “Winged Shmee”.

Limited edition prints by Phoebe Washer

Phoebe Washer was an immensely talented artist that passed away earlier this year. POVevolving had a benefit show for her just a little bit ago. They also have some prints, and a print that is sold out

There are five different prints available, each one limited to an edition of 150. Portions of the proceeds from these prints go to benefit the Phoebe Washer Foundation of the Arts. The print shown is my favorite of the five, it’s entitled “How Well Do You Remember?”. I love the style of the character in this one, the layout and the colors used.

Head on over to Poveditions.com to pick up a print or two.
You can also check out Pheobe’s homepage to check out the large amount of work she did. PhoebeWasher.com”
