Ron English and Alex Pardee at Fifty24 SF

Tonight at Fifty24 in San Francisco, Ron English’s solo show “Mythographic Vicissitudes” opens in the lower level of the gallery, and Alex Pardee’s “Letters From Digested Children” opens on the upper level of the gallery. Both are amazing artists and being able to see both shows in the same gallery is too good to be true.

Arrested Motion has a preview of Ron English’s show Here. Io9.com has a preview of Alex’s show, and it looks like it’s going to be killer. I love the idea of the video installation that he has in the show, I wish this was seen in more shows. Check it out Here

I’ll be seeing the show in Saturday and will no doubt have many pics to share. For now head over to Fifty24sf.com

Our New Sponsor: Metro Orange Art

I would like to welcome the Creep Machine’s newest sponsor, Metro Orange Art. If you check out the site you will see that they have a wide range of prints, sculptures and even some originals. I featured one of the prints available from Leslie Ditto last week for SFWeekly.com, and along with her prints you can find prints from Ron English, Van Arno, Shawn Barber, Benji Williams, Anthony Ausgang and many others.

The Creep Machine is managed by just one person and it takes quite a lot to keep this site going, so any help is much appreciated.

Shows now online: Ron English @ Shooting Gallery SF

After spending the whole day wandering around the Alternative Press Expo, which you can read my article for SFWeekly.com Here, I stopped off at the Shooting Gallery on the way home. I was told that the Ron English show was opening that night, and never one to turn down an art show I made sure I checked it out.

I was never the biggest fan of his work, I respect what he has done, but it never caught me quite like some other artists work has. I am also not a fan of Kiss either, and this whole show is basically Bouguereau styled paintings with Kiss themes to them all. Once I got a close look at the works however, I was hooked. Ron is such a masterful painter that it really doesn’t matter if you like Kiss or not. Each one of the paintings was a masterpiece. The colors, presentation and the way he handles paint is not only inspiring but awe inducing. You really need to see the work in person, as images on the net do not show all the subtle details that these oils works have. I did take a good amount of pics, and like always I took some close up shots to show the detail in some of the paintings. You can see those pics here: Creep on Flickr
