aotd: “The City”

Been a bit since I have posted anything. It’s been a very busy week for me, so hopefully this piece will make it all better.

This piece is from an artist out of Los Angeles named Allison Torneros, its Acrylic, colored pencil, and paint marker. And here’s what she has to say about it:
“This is a self portrait of myself, dedicated to my late brother, Romeo, who was killed in a car accident at the age of 21 when I was 14. When I was young, around 9 years old, and my brother would come home from hanging out with his friends, curious me would ask “where were you?! Where did you go?” He would joke and say “Somewhere over the rainbow.” I really thought he was serious, and he even promised he would take me there sometime. As a kid I always imagined what that place ‘over the rainbow’ would look like, and I couldn’t wait until the day I could finally see it formyself. This painting is a representation of that place that resides in me..”

Very killer piece, it has so much to look at and I love the line work of the face juxtaposed with the background. make sure you look at the rest of her amazing gallery.
