David Witt, an illustrator out of Minnesota, has added a new print to his online shop. The print is entitled “Death Metal” and is 12.5″ x 19″ on 100 lb. deep blue paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 50 for only $20 (+$5 shipping). It’s a very striking print, I like the fact that he chose to use blue instead of warmer colors.

Thinkspace Gallery will open “A Cry For Help” benefit show this coming Friday, January 8th. The show is presented by Born Free USA, whom along with the Animal Protection Institute helped Thinkspace with the “Fight For Flight” exhibition back in 2008. The theme for this years show is animals, endangered as well as thriving species, and supporting the ethical treatment of animals and making sure current and future generations understand about habitat loss and how important animals are for all of us.
20% of the proceeds of the sales will go to Born Free and A.P.I, as well as 100% of the proceeds from the limited editions that will be released the night of the reception. A great cause with some amazing art. What a perfect way to start out 2010. The list of participating artists is nothing short of spectacular. Paintings from such artists as Allison Sommers, Amy Sol, Andrew Hem, Andy Kehoe, Buff Monster, Catherine Brooks (Featured), Charlie Immer, Chet Zar (Interviewed, 2), Dan May, David MacDowell, Fred Harper, Heiko Müller, Jennybird Alcantara, Joao Ruas, Kelly Vivanco (Interviewed), Luke Kopycinski (Featured), Martin Wittfooth, Nimit Malavia, Rory Kurtz, Sarah Joncas (Interviewed), Scott G. Brooks, Tran Nguyen, Travis Louie, Van Arno and many more will be on view. If you are in the area there is no reason to miss this show, there is just too much good work to pass up seeing it all in person. Jeremy Brautman, Bay Area writer and “toy maven”, posted a great article over at Spanky Stokes about Kidrobot and the direction they have been going. I have read a lot of criticism about Kidrobot, vinyl collectibles and idea that the “art aspect” of it all is going away. This is definitely one of the more enjoyable articles I have read, and it worth checking out even if you could care less about vinyl toys. Here is an exerpt:

Every year I manage to make a new design for the Creep Machine. I like the layout the site currently has, but felt that the graphics could use a “facelift”. So in the past few days I have updated the site will a cleaner feel and new graphics. I hope everyone likes the changes.

A while back the artist known as Kenntwofour, created an amazing print for a self portrait show at the Mint Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia (see here). He has now released that image as a limited edition silkscreen. “Not You” is a 19″ x 25″, one color screenprint on 120lb cougar bright white cover stock. Signed and numbered in an edition of 40 for only $20 plus shipping. It’s an amazing looking image, and is sure to look outstanding in any type of black frame.

I hope everyone had a great time this New Years Eve. 2009 had some bumps here and there, but I have a feeling that this next year will be amazing. The site will have a slight facelift in the coming weeks, nothing major. A couple of new projects I have been working on will also be revealed in the next few months. I am really excited about them and hope that they work out just as planned.
The Creep Machine will be three years old soon, thanks for all those that keep reading the site, hope you stick around for the next three years.
Dirty Pilot has just released a colo zine by Charles Glaubitz. The 48 page color zine was put out in commemoration of the exhibition with Charles the gallery will be opening. The zine is limited to an edition of 80, and is signed and numbered by the artist. Thats a pretty fancy zine, and well worth the $15. Here are a few images of what can be found inside, more are at the galleries site.
