  • Now Online: David Kassan @ Gallery Henoch

March 12th at the Gallery Henoch in New York, a solo show featuring works by David Kassan opened. The show is entitled “Introspections”, and is nothing less than amazing. I love the photo-realistic way that he paints figures, and the grimy, graffiti-laden industrial backgrounds that he places the figures in. I love artwork that is aggressive, and texture filled and at the same time I appreciate beautifully rendered figurative works. I became an instant fan of Kassan’s work, since it so easily holds both of those preferences.

Head on over to the site and check out it all out. Along with the painting they have drawings on exhibit as well, and as you can imagine these are just as spectacular as the paintings.

  • Photos: Everything but the Kitschen Sink @ La Luz de Jesus

The “Everything but the Kitschen Sink” Show opened this last weekend. One of the artists in the show and previously featured artists here on the Creep, Apricot Mantle, took some pics of the show and now has them up on his site to check out. The show looks amazing, I really wish I was able to have been there during the reception. Or just to see it in person even.

Head on over and take a look. While your there you can also see some new art Apricot Mantle is working on.

  • Photos: This is the End @ The Alternative Cafe

The reception is now over and I have finally finished editing and pruning all the pics that were taken at the show. The gallery had this amazing banner of the show flyer with all the names of the artists on it posted on the front of the building. The Alternative Cafe is a nice sized gallery with great lighting, and all of the works of the show fit in with no worries. Seeing all the art in person was great, pics on the net are ok but there are so many subtleties that are lost. I found myself wanting to buy pretty much everything there.

The reception was quite fun, music, free drinks and a non-stop supply of people to talk to. Maya and Scott from the gallery are very nice, you can tell they love what they do. A good amount of the artists were also able to make it to the show such as Paul Chatem, Michael Ryan, Gene Guynn, Eliza Guager and R.M. Hanson. It was good to be able to not only talk about their work, but just art and random topics in general.

I had a blast at the show, and hope they everyone else that come out did as well. A few pieces are already sold, and I have a feeling that more will go soon. There really is some amazing work in this show. Check out the art and prices over at the Alternative Cafe Store

  • Art of the Day: “Click” by 8pussy

One of the paintings of the “This is the End” show that wasn’t there for the reception, was this one by Creep favorite 8Pussy. The painting got held up in customs, which was horrible as I knew the artist got it out in time and I would have loved to see it in person. It will be at the gallery soon though, and after seeing some of the artists work in person I know that it is amazing. The way that she draws eyes is very inspiring. Its often hard to believe that someone could make something that was this smooth and fluid.

The work from the show is online to view, as well as purchase. This is the End @ Alternative Cafe

  • “Today I Felt My Mortality” gocco print by JR Goldberg

JR Goldberg has added a new print to her online shop, this one is a gocco print. The print is 8.5″ x 10″, signed and numbered in an edition of 50. It’s a pretty amazing print, gocco prints are often very simple but this one is a four color print. Black for the background, that can only be seen from certain angles, and white, silver and gray oil-based inks for the rest.
The image is based on a popular sketch she did, so this print is not only amazing in design but the image itself is killer.

I also bought one of her “Squelch” minibooks. The book is super tiny, but the printing and quality of it is perfect. Well worth the $5 it costs.
