Kevin Llewellyn has added two new prints to his online shop, the first time that such prints have been available by the artists. The prints are entitled “Foetal Skull of Nacency” and “Lust For Life”. They are both 17″ x 13″, signed and numbered in editions of 25. You also have the ability to buy the prints as a set and save $50. There are beautiful looking prints, and I can imagine it would be hard to not want to by them as set.

“Finding Her Way” print by Leslie Ditto
One of the paintings that leslie Ditto has on view in the “Lowbrow Life” show, that was talked about in a previous post, is “Finding Her Way” which has now been turned into a limited edition print by Metro Orange Art. The print is 18″ x 22″ on 100% cotton rag paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 50. The print is pretty much the same size as the original, so all of that detain that Leslie worked so hard on will be displayed exactly as she meant it to be.

“Lowbrow Life” group show @ Copro Gallery
This past Saturday, February 19th, the Copro Gallery opened a group show entitled “Lowbrow Life”. The show features new work by Leslie Ditto, Bob Doucette, Tin, Chrystal Chan, Keith Weesner, and P-Jay Fidler. It’s a good mix of artists with a variety of styles, there is bound to be some work that captures you. I have a hard time keeping up with what the current art scene is named, Lowbrow, Urban Contemporary, New Contemporary and so on, so I was happy to see the show named as such, when the artists in this show are not often linked to the word “Lowbrow”. Either way, it’s a great show. I really liked the new work by Keith Weesner and Chrystal Chan. Leslie Ditto also created a great series of works. She stated that her new works were inspired by “my love of vintage toys and my fascination of the heart and mind of the pure inventor.” The show runs until March 12th, and is now online to view.

New mini prints by Naoto Hattori
Ance again Naoto Hattori has added new prints to his online shop, this time they are more affordable mini prints. The prints range in size from 4″ x 6″ to 10″ x 11″ and cost $30 to 75 each and most prints are limited to editions of 50. There are some great little prints available, such as “The Middle Finger 13”, “The Hare and the Tortoise”, “I Wonder” and a print that comes from one of the paintings Naoto had in one of the Crazy 4 Cult exhibitions “Shittoshin (Jealousy)”.

New Creep Machine T-Shirts
Something I have wanted to do for while now was make some Creep Machine t-shirts and hoodies. I have been posting in the Facebook group for the past week or so that I have been testing some shirt printers, and now have the shirts ready for purchase. “Sideshow” by The Creep @ Hyaena Gallery
Chris “The Creep” Densmore opened his latest solo show “Sideshow” at the Hyaena Gallery this past February 16th. With this new series of works Chris hopes “to show that whether a “born-freak†or a “made-freak,” these are ultimately portraits of people, and not so different from the audience that remains fascinated with them.” It’s a great idea for a show, and while many artists use sideshow “freaks” as inspiration, few tackle the imagery with respect as Chris has done so here. The portraits are well done, and most importantly classy. John Merrick, Bill Durks, and even some great little “golden age” cartoons can be found at the show. Preview: Stephanie Henderson and Michael Mararian @ Last Rites Gallery
Coming this Saturday, February 19th, to the Last Rites Gallery in New York is two solo exhibitions of new work. “Bread and Circuses” by Stephanie Henderson in Gallery I, and “Sow White” by Michael Mararian in Gallery II. Stephanie’s work is beautifully rendered in a variety of mediums. Some of the works have the feel of classical still life portraits, with a good amount of surreal elements. Mararian and his scratchy drawing style, is stepped up with some intricately created, pattern backgrounds. His characters straddle the line between humorous, and slightly depressing.

Stages: The Art and Process of Jason Edmiston Book
Jason Edmiston (featured) has just released a collectible book to his online shop. “Stages: The Art and Process of Jason Edmiston”, not only features some of Jason’s best works in striking detail and color, but each painting is also broken down into the steps he takes to create each one of these works, and a little bit of info on each one. It’s a great look into this artists working process, and the interview done here with Jason is also published in the book. The book is 8″ x 10″, 32 full color pages, and signed in an edition of 1000.
