1xrun.com has just released a new limited edition print by Tatiana Suarez. Part of her “Flora” series, this new print is 18″ x 18″, hand embellished 3-color screenprint on 100lb French Paper, signed and numbered in a max edition of 40. Back in November 2011, Thinkspace Gallery opened an exhibition of new works by Brazilian artist Joao Ruas entitled Yore. A show catalogue and a book of sketches and ideas for the show was once available, but now is long sold out. In the coming weeks Eidolon Fine Arts will release an expanded edition of the Yore catalogue. The book will contain not only images of the works, but sketches and process shots, as well as detailed views of the works. The book will be 7.75″ x 9.75″, hardcover volume printed on 148 GSM lustre paper with black endpapers and hand-embellished details. It is accompanied by a tipped-in, signed and stamped print of “Small Gorgoneion II” printed on 330 GSM hot press cotton rag paper, as well as a beautifully produced numbered micro certificate.
This amazing will be available for a two-week period beginning July 29, 12 pm UTC-3/6 am PST, ending August 13, 11:59 am UTC/5:59 am PST, with the final edition size being determined by the number of orders. Like most time released prints, anyone who purchases a book during this window is guaranteed a copy. 1xrun has just released a new print by John Dunivant. A regular at the time released print site, John’s latest print is entitled Zombo and is the first in a series of canvas prints that 1xrun will be releasing from John’s world of the Theatre Bizarre. This print is 12″ x 13″ on canvas, signed and numbered in a max edition of 90 for $100 each. This is an amazing looking print, and I love the idea that the canvas is stretched and ready to be hung.

This past weekend was packed with amazing events; the San Diego Comic Con, Eric Fortune at Lebasse Projects, Laurie Lipton at Ace Gallery, Meggs at White Walls in SF, Jeremy Fish at Fifty24SF, and Tim MacLean at the Subtext Gallery in San Diego. Art fans in Southern California looking to see some new superhero works of art, were also able to check out Tim MacLean’s latest solo show and see the Incredible Hulk, Wonder Woman, Batman, and Spider Man in the way only MacLean can present them. For this latest show Maclean “explores the landscapes of mental realms, where the conscious and unconscious connect and archetypal patterns expand and converge.”. Take a look at the preview images below, and then head over to the exhibition page. Along with original works of art, there is also some prints available.
Following the release of Chrysalis back in May, Tom Bagshaw has just released the second print in this series. Entitled Memento Mori, this print is a limited edition of 3 with one Artist’s Proof. The print is mounted on board, varnished, framed and is 11″ x 14″ (15″ x 18″ with frame). Each print also comes signed, dated, numbered, and with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Soey Milk is an artist working out of Pasadena, CA. She recently had a solo show at La Luz de Jesus this past February and showed just how amazing she is with oils. Soey also keeps a blog and uploads any new art she creates, which alerted me to the recent works I am about to share. I am blown away by how skilled she is with a such a wide variety of mediums. Two of the recent works she posted are influenced by Die Antwoord’s Yolandi Visser. The first thing that struck me about these two works, is that even though the focus is on a famous musician, they were done in such an elegant way that I believe anyone can fully enjoy them even if you don’t like Die Antwoord or Visser. This cannot be said for many works that were influenced by celebrities. Head on over and take a look at Soey Milk’s blog and be inspired.
On June 16th, Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City opened a duo show with new work from Caia Koopman and Sarah Joncas entitled Between Wind and Water. Both artists have very different styles, but the show doesn’t look odd because of this. The last solo show that I remember seeing from Sarah Joncas was at Last Rites Gallery last April 2011. Taking a look at her personal website, you can see that she is going to have another solo show at Last Rites this coming December 2012. Her work seems to be getting a tad darker, and in some cases even a bit more erotic—these changes however are subtle. I do hope she keeps moving in this direction, or even one that would not be expected. Both artists submitted some top-notch work to this show, so take a look at the preview and then head over for the full show. James Jean has just released an image of his latest painting. Entitled ESL, this 18″ x 24″ oil and pumice on wood panel painting, is currently on view at the Ivory and Black Gallery in London. The texture/glare in the image is the pumice used in the painting; it would be great to see this in person to really get a good idea of the mood created with all of that texture.
