  • “Snowfall Over Poppies” print by Krista Huot

Krista Huot’s “Wizard of Oz” inspired piece from the most recent “Crazy 4 Cult” show is now available as a print. The prints will be available from Gallery 1988 this Tuesday Jan 13th.

The print is 16″ x 20″ giclee on archival paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 50. There will also be 15 of the prints with hand-embellished poppies, these prints are $150 while the standard is $100 each. This was one of my favorite works from that show, and will no doubt be a very popular print. So if you’ve been looking to score one of these prints, I would be read this Tuesday.

You can either contact the gallery at (415) 409-1376 / gallery1988sf@gmail.com, or go to the website: Gallery1988.com

  • “Flown”, new print by Michael Hussar

Birdbath Publishing has a new print by Micheal Hussar coming out. “Flown” will be released this coming March, but you can secure one during the advanced sale right now.
The print is unframed on archival paper, 12″ x 16″ signed and numbered in an edition of 88 . It also comes with a certificate of authenticity.

I’ve stated this before and I’ll say it again, the prints released by Birdbath look perfect. Coupled with how great Michael’s art is and you get prints that sell out very fast. I have a feeling this one will go quick as well.

  • New paintings available from Naoto Hattori

Naoto Hattori has once again updated his online shop with some new original paintings. A few of these new ones are portraits like the one shown below. I really like when he paints faces, this has to easily be my favorite work by him so far. The mixture of texture, the soft facial features and the floating orbs are all great. The one shown is entitled “Pheromone” and is acrylic on board, 4″ x 5.9″ and is framed.

  • Under the Influence: Beastie Boys show now online

The Beastie Boys theme art show “Under the Influence” opens at the Gallery 1988 in LA tonight. The show features a whole mess of artists creating art inspired by the band. The show is now online to view, or order art if you wish. Along with original art there is also a good amount of limited edition prints made for the show.

There are some really great artists in the show such as: Ken Garduno, Tom Haubrick, Matt Dangler, Aaron Jasinksi, Andrew Hem, Michael Page, Alex Pardee and the three shown below, Dave Macdowell, Casey Weldon and Chris Murray. Dave’s painting is of course amazing as usual, the colors and textures in Chris’s and Casey’s Biz Markie with the Ted Nugent shirt and energy beam shooting mouth is too much.

  • Ron English and Alex Pardee at Fifty24 SF

Tonight at Fifty24 in San Francisco, Ron English’s solo show “Mythographic Vicissitudes” opens in the lower level of the gallery, and Alex Pardee’s “Letters From Digested Children” opens on the upper level of the gallery. Both are amazing artists and being able to see both shows in the same gallery is too good to be true.

Arrested Motion has a preview of Ron English’s show Here. Io9.com has a preview of Alex’s show, and it looks like it’s going to be killer. I love the idea of the video installation that he has in the show, I wish this was seen in more shows. Check it out Here

I’ll be seeing the show in Saturday and will no doubt have many pics to share. For now head over to Fifty24sf.com
