  • Three new “smaller prints from Chris Peters

    Chris Peters just opened his print store last week, and has now added a few smaller prints. Each one of these prints 7″ x9″ image on 11″ x 14″ velver art paper. Each one is signed and is in an open edition.

    It’s a killer way to get some art on the walls for a very satisfying price, only $30 a piece. These are some really great looking little prints, and perfect for those that don’t have enough room for larger prints or are running out of wall space.

  • “Cover Band” at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles

    Tonight at the Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles the show “Cover Band” opens. The show features work by a whole host of killer artists, each one interpreting an LP cover. It’s a pretty cool idea and I always love seeing what these artists can do when given a specific topic, or something to work from such as the “Paint by Numbers” show.

    There are some really great artists in this show, such as Shannon Bonatakis (shown), Josh Callaway, Joshua Clay, Tom Haubs, Ken Garduno, Alex Pardee, Andrew Hem and many others. The work from the show is up online as we speak. Head on over and take a look.

  • Shows this weekend: Noxious Fumes, Joshua Petker & Nathan Ota

    Friday:
    Papermonster will have his solo show “Feast” at the Metropolis Gallery. The show is online to view.

    The Eclectix Gallery will be celebrating their new location with a group show entitled “Strange Brew”. Some of the artists that will be showing there are: Chris Buzelli, Eric Joyner, Craig LaRotonda, Paul Lewin, Mark Mothersbaugh, Saratoga Sake, Isabel Samaras and many others.

    Joshua Petker’s solo show “Black Sugar” opens up at the Corey Helford Gallery. Along with all of the new works, a limited editon print is 4 differnet colorways will be released.   • Halloween print by Brandi Milne

    Brandi Milne has added a new print to her online store. This print is available “in honor of the month of October”. It is 13″ x 19″ with an image area of 11″ x 16″, signed and numbered. The print also comes shipping in a plastic sleeve.

    This is a killer looking print and has officially got me ready for my favorite time of the year. All the amazing imagery that is created in honor of this month is always welcomed.

  • Kent Williams Solo show at MKGallery now online

    The always amazing Kent Williams currently has a solo show going on at the MERRY KARNOWSKY GALLERY in Berlin and Los Angeles. The work doesn’t look like it is on the MkGallery website, but Kent has put all of the work on his own site. It can all be found under the paintings and drawings section.

    I am blown away by these new works, I really love the way that he handles paint and the slightly stylized forms of the figures in his works. Here are just a few of the paintings that he has in the show. My favorite being “Kevin Llewelly as Queen Elizabeth I” (last shown).

  • “Cycle of Lies”, original painting by Chris Mars

    It’s not often that you see an original work from Chris Mars that a collector is selling. It does happen, and in this worsening economy I think we will see people selling artwork at a faster pace. Very sad, especially when you realize that art buying is a luxury. Well, heres to hoping the tide changes and things start looking up.

    This painting is oil on panel and is 11″ round. It was featured in Chris’s solo show last year at the Jonathan Levine Gallery. It’s a killer piece. As always with Chris’s work, the colors are outstanding and the work itself is worth staring at for hours. This painting has been out into a custom shadowbox and kept there from day one. It was also a smoke-free home.

  • “Madonna and Horsefly” print by John Brophy

    Roq La Rue Gallery has a new print from Washington based artist, John Brophy. The print is on heavy watercolor stock, 10 3/4″ x 13 1/4″, with a paper size of 13 1/4″ x 15 3/4″. It is signed and numbered in an edition of only 10.

    I absolutely love John’s work, I hope to be able to see at least one of his paintings in person one day. I love how this work looks like an underpainting, it glows and has this really dynamic quality to it. I don’t think this print will last long at all, as I write this there are only 8 prints left. So if you love the work as much as I do, head on over and check em out.

  • 3 new prints by Chris Peters

    Chris Peters has just opened up a new store area of his website and is launching tis new section with three new giclee prints. Each print is on fine velvet art paper using Ultrachrome k3 inks. This is the same type of inks that James Jean and I believe Chet Zar is using, so it’s clear that this is a great way of making prints.

    “To Hold You Again” and “The Two Comedians” are both 17″ x 22″ in an edition of 100. “Sister Beatrice” is also limited to 100, but with the slight change of the print being 17″ x 20.75″. I have always liked the “Sister Beatrice” piece, the colors are amazing in this one, and any work with skeletons is always welcomed. Especially when it is done as elegantly as Chris Peters has in these works.
