  • aotd: “Gatecrasher” by John Cebollero

    gatecrasher_cebollero.jpg
Today’s art of the day is from John Cebollero. He has done work for DC, Marvel,Cartoon Network & Topps. His work at Topps was for the “Hollywood Zombies” cards, and John’s work was by far my favorite of the set.

His work is wonderfully nostalgic, and to me represents the best of what you can find when looking at art by Bill Ward, old Mad Magazines and Garbage Pail Kids. His pencil works are amazing and his acrylic works are amazing, and his acrylic paintings such as the one he has showing in the B Movie show, has David Macdowell and I trying to sell some blood so we can have split custody with it.

John also just updated and redid his website. So you can now head on over, take a look at his work and maybe buy a print once he has that section updated. John Cebollero homepage

  • aotd: “Eskimette” by 8pussy

Todays art of the day is from an artist out of Brussels, Belgium. She goes by the name 8pussy, and has a seriously unique, dynamic style. Her work is really tight and clean, but the colors are intense. This is the kind of art that reaches out and smacks you in the face.

There is so much I love about her work, but the thing that caught me first was the eyes. They look so perfect and real. I’m always waiting for them to start moving around in these images. She came up with a really killer piece for the B Movie show, even though i’ve only seen half of it so far. If you want to see more of her work, head on over to her homepage here:

  • aotd: “Anastasia” by Brandi Read

    Anastasia_brandiread.jpg
Today’s art of the day is from Brandi Read, yet another amazing artist that will be showing work in the B Movie Show. Every time I see one of her new paintings I am always blown away. The backgrounds are often these extremely intricate patterns, she can paint cloth perfectly, and the figures always look so lifelike.

She painted an amazing piece for the show. I’m very happy to have her in the show to begin with, and then she paints a B Movie homage that the show wouldn’t be complete without. I’ll be making some prints from some of the works in the show, and her work is on the list.

Head on over and check out the rest of Brandi’s work here: Brandi Read homepage

This piece is actually available for sale at the Thinkspace Gallery. Here

  • Casey Weldon’s “Spring Print Sale!”

    viewmistress_caseyweldon.jpg
Casey Weldon is having a spring print sale. I’m a huge fan of Casey’s work and have featured his prints three times now in my SFWeekly articles. His “At At” print made it in the best of “2007” I wrote for the site.

The spring sale features a selection of eight prints, the At-At print included as well as two prints that are from the paintings he has in the “Toys!” show at the Gallery 1988. The “Viewmistress” (shown) piece was one of my favorites from the show, and now there is a print of it.

Head on over and take advantage of this sale, the prints are only $15 a pop!

  • aotd: “Untitled” by Tatiana Suarez

    TatiSuarez_Rat_21.jpg
Today’s art of the day is from Florida artist, Tatiana Suarez. This piece was for the “Sex and Science” show at the Bear and Bird gallery. They have had some pretty cool shows there, and Tatiana always makes some really killer paintings for these shows.

She has a great style that is instantly recognizable once you are exposed to her art. She is also one of the artists showing work in the upcoming “Attack of the B Movie” Art Show. I’m really happy to have her in the show, she made the coolest piece inspired by the “Crawling Eye”. For more of Tatiana’s work, head on over to her homepage and keep an eye for any shows she has work in.
