  • “TrainWreck” show at Copronason Gallery July 14th

Coming up this Saturday is the “TrainWreck” show at the CoproNason Gallery. The show will feature work by Paul Chatem and Nathan Fox. It opens the 14th at 8pm and then runs until August 4th.

I have seen Paul Chatem’s work in person and he has a really great style, very narrative where the story will run from piece to piece.

At the same time the group show “Next Gen” will also start. It has the same running time, and will feature such artists as: Ron English, Luke Chueh, Chet Zar, Dave Burke, Naoto Hattori, Kris Lewis, Dan Quintana, Joe Vaux, Kukula, Travis Louie, Brandi Milne and many others. Looks like its gonna be a huge show.

Here’s the homepage of the two artists for the “TrainWreck” Show.

  • Harry Potter giclee prints

Well today is the day that the latest movie, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” comes out in theaters. I will be making my way to see it sometime today, sans Hogwarts Scarf and wand though, I’m a fan but not that hardcore.

I did decide to go looking for some Harry Potter art though, mainly by the cover artist Mary Grandpre. She does all of the cover art for the books, and has a pretty cool style. I found a good amount of prints, and it looks like all of them are from editions of 250.

You can find them all here at the Animation Art Gallery.
Or if you want a save some cash, you can head over and grab some from this seller who has four of the prints for sale: Harry Potter Prints

In this piece, the artist has employed a compositional tension that urges the viewer to consider many questions. Answers may be gleaned only through subjective interpretation.

  • New Dan May giclee at Blue Bottle Art

There is a new Dan May giclee print available at the Blue Bottle Art Gallery.

The piece is called “Belly of the Beast” and is 11.7″ x 12″. It looks great, I really dig the colors and the transparency of that ghostly white body.

I’ve actually purchased work from Blue Bottle Art Gallery before, and they are wonderful to deal with. The painting that I bought was packaged very well, and came in perfect condition. If you order this print, there is no doubt that it will arrive perfect, ready for framing.

Here is where you can order it: Blue Bottle Art Gallery

  • Arthur Suydam Original Watercolor

Arthur Suydam, the cover artist on many zombie comics as of late such as Marvel Zombies, Raise the Dead and even the new Tick comic.

He has a great style, and possibly makes the best looking zombies, well next to Bernie Wrightson.
This piece is not a zombie, but is a remix on the Vitruvian Man, but in a cyborg kind of way.
    It’s one of a kind, watercolor 11″ x 12″ on paper that is 16.5″ x 11″.

You can also check the website listed to see all the covers Suydam has done, with the original that inspired it.

  • aotd: “Jellyfish”

Today we have a vector piece from an artist out of Switzerland known as Limkis.

I chose this piece for the colors, nice bright reds really punch you in the eye, and of course because it’s a full vector piece. I think vector can look amazing when it is done well. It can be very artistic maybe I should say. The way Limkis works with the vector shapes, it’s like they are laid down like a brush would do. Very cool. Take a look at her whole gallery, she has this style consistently throughout all her pieces.

I love finding vector art that looks like the artist spent a considerable amount of time on the piece, as well as defining a style that is recognizable as their own.

  • “Face Off”, Joe Ledbetter original

There is currently a Joe Ledbetter original acrylic painting for sale right now. It’s 24×24″ and looks quite smooth.

The most important thing about this auction is the example that I wanted to show. If you head over to the auction, you will see that the seller gives provenance for the painting (Gallery 1988), with signed proof. This is ideal for buying works through auction sites, especially when they are this expensive.

You can’t always get signed proof, but if you can get as close as possible to tracing down where the work came from, the less likely you’ll get ripped off.
