Profiles: Cam Floyd
An illustrator working out of Los Angeles, Cam Floyd is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art. He says he is a big fan of 808 drum machines, and creates some amazing artwork. It looks as though he creates his works with a variety of mediums. The work is very colorful, abstract at times, and energetic. Head on over to his hompage and take a look at the rest of his work.

“Matryoshka of Doom” print by Godmachine
Godmachine added a new print to his online shop that is still available. “Matryoshka of Doom” is a 16.5″ x 23.4″, single color print on black paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 40. Along with the print you also get a free sticker.

Arabella Proffer Art Sale
Arabella Proffer is currently having a sale over at her Etsy shop. A good amount of smaller originals have been added to the shop and placed on sale. One of the paintings that Arabella submitted tot he first show I curated is one of the works that is one sale, “Switchblade Sue Will Cut You”, a great painting inspired by teen exploitation flicks from the 50’s. Make sure you check out the shop and see the rest of the works that are for sale.

“Pendulum” print by Dave Kinsey
BLK/MRKT editions just released a new screen-print by Dave Kinsey. Entitled “Pendulum”, this is a 18″ x 18″ 4 color screen-print on 100% cotton rag paper, signed, stamped and numbered in an edition of 130. The colors as always are very striking, but what makes the print so amazing is the mixture of the face and the skull.

New prints by Mike Mitchell
Mike Mitchell has added some new prints to his online shop. The prints are limited and I imagine will be selling out pretty fast. Some of the most popular images Mitchell has released in the past year are now made into prints, such as the “1985” print, which is the year the 8=bit Nintendo was released. Most of the prints are limited to either 50 or 100, and are around $50 each.

Bravo Jett @ Dirty Pilot
Dirty Pilot opened a new solo show by Bravo Jett this past Thursday, November 18th. This show not only features some original paintings by Jett, but a few collaborations with Dave MacDowell as well. The collab works came out well, the second image featured here is one of them.

“Idol Hours” @ London Miles Gallery
On November 13th, the London Miles Gallery opened a group show entitled “The Idol Hours”, which is a reflective study of great historical master paintings by new contemporary artists. The show features work by some amazing artists such as Dave MacDowell, Stella Im Hultberg, Tom Bagshaw, Matthew Bone, Travis Lampe, Zoe Lacchei, Bob Dob, Carrie Ann Baade, Carles Gomila, Nom Kinnear King, Chris B Murray, Ken Keirns, and many more. I was very excited, being an art history geek, to hear of this exhibition and see what some of these artists would come up with when taking classical works for inspiration. Ken Keirns did an outstanding re-interpretaion of Da Vinci’s “Lady with an Ermine”, and even Dave MacDowell chose to reimagibe Da Vinci’s work. Tom Bagshaw, Chris Murray, and Carrie Ann Baade made some stand-out paintings. I loved looking through the works and attaching them to the classical pieces the artists worked from. I do feel that Joe Ledbetter could have created something so much better, instead of painting a small area on a print. of the original work.
