  • “Plum” original painting by Ravel Iglehart

Son of fine artist and illustrator Elizabeth Iglehart, Ravel is inspired by the “works of his mother, the artists of Wiener Werkstatte, art nouveau, silent film and Japanese ghost stories.”

He has a very killer style. I like the blend of the little explosions of texture and color along with the elegant linework. He has a bunch of prints for sale, along with some original drawings and the painting show here which is made from acrylic and ink. The painting is 4″ x 6″, the frame is not included but gives you a good idea of what it would look like all framed up. Hit his store here: Ravel’s Store

  • “Awful | Homesick” The Art of Alex Pardee, now available

If you head on over to Zerofriends, you can snag up the new artbook released by Alex Pardee.
This is a hardcover book with 96-pages of Alex’s favorite works from 2005 to present.

The book is in full color, and from the images on the site it looks amazing. Next to prints I think art books are the next best thing to get if you can’t get the originals. It’s always great to work up a nice library filled with art books.

The best thing is this book is only $20. That is a major steal. Head on over and pick one up.

  • “Queen Wasp”, new print by Naoto Hattori

Naoto has an upcoming show at the Limited Addiction Gallery along with Anthony Ausgang and Lori Field, but a new print is available from his shop as we speak.

The print is 13″ x 13.5″, signed and numbered in an edition of 50. This is a really killer print, I love the layout, all the action that is going on in this piece and I am a big fan of any art based on wasps and bees. The face and body of the Queen Wasp look quite amazing. Head on over and check out the new prints, and keep your eye open for the new show he will be a part of.

  • “After the Flood, Trust Waivers”, new print by Andy Kehoe

Andy Kehoe has released a new print, one that many of his fans have been asking for. The print is entitled “After the Flood, Trust Waivers”, and is 16″ x 12″ on the very desirable Hahnemuhle Photo Rag paper. This print is limited to an edition of 25, signed and numbered.

I really love the minimalistic background on this one. It causes your eye to shoot right for the main creature in the piece. Then you eye starts freakin out on the detail of all the tiny branches that comprise that massive head. Killer work. Head on over and pick one of these prints up, before they are all gone.

  • Naoto Hattori originals for sale

Naoto Hattori has some new original paintings for sale in his online store. The latest painting added to the store is “Mind Stream”. The painting itself is a little under 4″ x 6″, which really goes to show the level of detail that he puts into each one of these works.

What also blows me away is the fact that he is using acrylics. The background I can kind of see the staining effect that acrylics do so well, but the face and the blending that is going on there is amazing. This painting also looks killer in the frame, you can see this when you go to the store area.

  • New prints and drawings at the Viner Studio store

Jonathan Viner has two new prints available in his online store, and if you are quick enough he also has a few drawings available. The drawings are 5.25″ x 7.25″, graphite on paper and will no doubt be gone very soon.

The new prints available are: “The Virtues of Gathering” (shown) which is 24″ x 31.5″ on photo rag paper in an edition of 15. “Anchor Point” is also on photo rag, 16.5″ x 24″ in an edition of 50. Both prints look amazing, the colors are perfect and Hahnemuhle Photo Rag is some of the best paper to get prints on. I really love “The Virtues of Gathering” print. It’s a nice big size and i’m sure would look spectacular all framed up.

The sketches look amazing and are a great way to score some original work from Chet at a great price. Each one of the drawings looks to be around 6″ x 8″. He has also updated his website with a couple of cool new products. One is a blown glass pendant with the gas mask logo made by his brother, Rick Zar. The other is his instructional dvd, that shows you his methods of painting digitally. It’s called “Digital Creature Painting with Chet Zar” and is released by the Gnomon Workshop. I have seen bits of the dvd and it looks amazing, if you work with digital painting this dvd is a must. Chet Zar Merch

  • In the Store: “Hostile Space Clown” by S.L. Grice

This artist/animator made some of the coolest works of the B Movie show. He sent me three 6″ x 6″ acrylic on canvas painting that really solidified the show as a good idea. I was feeling kind of wary of it in the beginning, but these little painting really helped me to feel better. Each painting carries over onto the think side panel areas, this is what you see in the preview images.

The one shown is based off of “Killer Klowns from Outer Space”, one of the most recognizable “B Movies”. The painting perfectly captures the idea of he movie, in S.l. Grice’s killer style. The other two works are just as amazing. “Bored Monster Actor” features aguy in a killer monster suit that just looks bored with the job, like a guy working on an assembly line. “Brundle Nurse” is inspired by another killer movie, “The Fly”, only instead of getting meshed with a fly the nurse got meshed with some crab she was munching on.

All three of these works are still available. They look amazing and would no doubt be great conversation starters, or just to sit there and remind you how amazing cheezy movies can be. Head on over to store if you want to pick one up. I will give discounts for anyone that gets all three.
