  • “Lyric” group show @ 323 East Gallery

323 Gallery recently opened a show curated by Glenn Barr that features art inspired by music. It seems like it has been quite a long time since a show like this has come around, hopefully this show and the “INLE” show curated by Craola will signal a new trend towards art and books, instead of movies and pop-culture mashups. Not that I don’t like those kinds of shows, but it would be nice for some more variety. “Lyric” opened on March 19th and will run until April 19th. Glenn Barr has assembled a greta list of artists such as: Jeff Soto, William Wray, Bask, Chris Recarrdi, Rick Morris, Gary Taxali, Chet Zar, Brandt Peters, Kathie Olivas, Yumiko Kayukawa, Camilla D’Errico, Brandi Milne, Lisa Petrucci, and more. After the preview images head on over and check out he full show.

  • “Art From the New World” @ Bristol City Musuem

Curated by Jan Corey Helford, this past May 15th marked the opening of the “Art From the New World” group exhibition at the Bristol City Museum & Art Gallery. This show will run until August 22nd, but for those of us that aren’t able to see it in person, we now have some images of the art and even behind the scenes photos of the preparation and build up to opening day (see here).

Last year the Bristol City Museum featured the works of Banksy, and during the course of the exhibition over 300,000 visited the museum. Now for the “Art From the New World” show, there have been over 5,000 visitors in the first 6 days of the opening. This is not only a very exciting show, but an important one for the future of the art we love so much. Originally referred to as a scene filled with “illustrators”, this art is now gaining more momentum than ever. Museums are taking notice, and the fan-base is becoming larger than ever. There is some amazing work in this show, from artists such as Kent Williams, David Stoupakis, Joe Sorren, Brandi Milne, Buff Monster, Camille Rose Garcia, Dave Kinsey, Travis Louie, Mercedes Helnwein, Ray Ceasar, Sas Christian, Melissa Forman, Jason Shawn Alexander, Dave Cooper, Liz McGrath, Mike Stilkey, Gary Baseman, Craola, Luke Chueh, Coop, Natalia Fabia, Chris Anthony, AJ Fosik, Joe Ledbetter, Todd Schorr, Van Arno, Martin Wittfooth, Josh Agle, Lola, Sylvia Ji, Marion Peck, Mark Ryden and many more. How is that for a lineup? I really wish this show was going to travel and come to some museums here in the states. Take a look at the preview images here, and then head over for the full preview.

  • “The Making” print by Brandi Milne @ the new Virtu Art Gallery

During the past month I was given the opportunity to design a new website for the Virtu Art Gallery, formerly known as Excellent Virtu. As you know Virtu Art has been a long time supporter of the Creep Machine so I was more than happy to help out. The site is now up and running, and new limited editions are also being released. The gallery will have some amazing exclusive editions in the comings month, first of which is “The Making” by Brandi Milne. This edition is 20″ x 20″ on canvas, signed and numbered in an edition of 40. Each one is also hand enhanced making each one unique. It’s a beautiful looking piece, and from what I hear these look amazing in person.

Head on over and check out the print and the new website: Brandi Milne @ Virtu Art Gallery
