    Support Artists with these Black Friday Art Sales

    It’s that time of year again when people line up, wait for hours, fight and hurt each other all to save a little bit of cash and put the rest in the pockets of companies that only think about how this year, will stack up to last years profits. So why not spend your money on art, support an independent artist, and really make a difference in someones life (including your own). There are so many talented artists having Black Friday sales. This is a great opportunity to stay in your house, sip on some coffee (or beer) and buy some original art and/or prints that will be shipped directly to you, and you don’t even need to get trampled for it.

  • New work by Dave MacDowell for solo exhibition

    Opening tonight at the Venice location of Gallery 1988, will be a duo show with new work from Kirk Demarais & Dave MacDowell. In the oast few weeks Dave has been painting like crazy, and has created some outstanding work. He currently has a couple of pieces on view at the Synergy, Thinkspace Curated show currently on view at Spoke Art in San Francisco.

    This new series of works features Dave’s unique blend of pop culture mashing, and his never-ending ability to create paintings that are sure to make you smile, laugh, and be come jealous that you didn’t think of it first. The shows features a good amount of Big Lebowski inspired paintings, some music references, and Dave even revisits a painting, Freaky Friday, from the first show I ever curated with his new Deebo of the Dead.     Tribute to Adam Yauch, aka MCA of the Beastie Boys

    Adam Yauch, more famously known as MCA of the legendary band Beastie Boys has passed away at the age of 47 (link). For the past few years Yauch has battled cancer. Since the 80’s Beastie Boys have influenced an endless amount of musicians, created some of the most memorable music videos around, and inspired artists in every medium, not just music. Just last month the Beastie Boys were inducted into the the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So turn on your favorite tunes, and check out the art below that was inspired by the music and members of Beastie Boys.




  • Now Online: “Marvelous Humans” Group Show @ Articulated Gallery

    Just over a week ago on April 7th, the latest show I had the pleasure of curating opened at the Articulated Gallery in San Francisco. I had a few ideas of what would be my next show, but i thought that Marvelous Humans would be the most fun, and would be a great way to signal a break in my curating days. I’m not going to say I will never curate again, but I do have other projects now that will take more priority over curating. I am very happy with the art in this show, and the reception was a blast. A good amount of artists were present such as Glenn Arthur, Apricot Mantle, Robert Bowen, Peter Adamyan, Kelly Castillo, and Edward Cao. The artwork from the show is now available in the Articulated Gallery online shop, and you can also see some alternate images of the works over at the Creep Machine Facebook page.   • Preview: “Marvelous Humans” @ the Articulated Gallery SF

    Opening this Saturday, April 7th, is a new exhibition I have had the pleasure to curate. Entitled Marvelous Humans, this group show features art inspired by the many human marvels that once lived, or are alive today. I have always been inspired by those who were born with a certain condition, and made the most of it, as well as those that choose to alter their bodies regardless of the negative reactions they would receive. So instead of focusing on these people as “oddities”, I thought it was time for some art to be created that was done with a level of respect. A few of the artists looked to the amazing “Human Marvels” website for inspiration, take a look when you have time.

    The reception takes place at the Articulated Gallery in San Francisco from 8-10 PM, and a few of the artists will be in attendance.     This past Saturday on March 27th, the 4th Annual Gag Me With Toon group show opened at the WWA Gallery. This installment features more Saturday morning cartoon madness from many of your favorite artists. This years show is curated by Steven Daily and Tomi Monstre.   • Preview: Dark Pop 4 Group Show @ Last Rites Gallery

    Opening this Saturday, March 3rd, is the 4th annual Dark Pop group exhibition at Last Rites Gallery. This year the show is curated by Gary Pressman and has a very impressive list of artists; Alexandra Pacula, Ana Bagayan, Annie Owens, Becca, Brian Despain, Cathie Bleck, Charles Wish, Chrystal Chan, Dark Vomit, Dave MacDowell, Eric Alos, Eric Richardson, Francesco De Molfetta, Isabel Samaras, Jennybird Alcantara, Joe Vaux, John Brophy, Mark Elliott, Mark Garro, Mascorro, Matt Dangler, Matthew Grabelsky, Niagara, TIN, Travis Lampe, Travis Louie, and Yoko d’Holbachie. This year has some amazing pieces in it, such as Black End by Joe Vaux, Enlightenment by Chrystal Chan (one of three she has in the show), and Witching Hour by John Brophy.   • Preview: “Femme Fatale” group show @ Cella Gallery

    Opening this Saturday, February 25th at the Cella Gallery in Los Angeles, is a group show curated by Nicole Bruckman and Stephanie Chefas entitled Femme Fatale. Over 35 artists, each one inspired by the female figure, have come together to present artworks in a variety of mediums. Aaron Nagel, Apricot Mantle, Aunia Kahn, Casey Weldon, Cate Rangel, Chris Peters, Chrystal Chan, Dave MacDowell, Delphia, Edith Lebeau, Gail Potocki, Jason Rudolph Pena, JAW Cooper, Jeff Ramirez, Jessica Ward, JoKa, Ken Garduno, Korin Faught, Linnea Strid, Nom Kinnear King, Paul Chatem, Stella Im Hultberg, and on and on.
