  • The Brush Project 2

About 2 years ago, the very first Brush Project was started. The idea was that artists would send in used brushes, sign them and then the fans could score a great collectible while helping out a charity. It’s now time for Bush Project 2, this time hosted by Rotofugi, the charity is Gigi’s Playhouse, a Down syndrome awareness center. The auction is now in full swing, and will go until this Thursday, October 6th. The brushes will be on display until October 11th and then shipped to the new owner.

There is a great list of artists participating this year, Tara McPherson (shown), Bob, Dob, Chris Mars, Dan May, Jeff Soto, Jason Limon, Jeremiah Ketner, Lori Early, Travis Lampe and many more. For the full list, and to bid head on over to the online auctions.

  • Kelly Vivanco & Jason Limon @ Subtext Gallery

Opened just last night, July 31st at the Subtext Gallery in San Diego was “Under the Cover of Darkness: New Works by Kelly Vivanco & Jason Limon”. The show is online for those of us who can’t see the works in person. Kelly’s work looks amazing as usual, and almost seems to be getting more intense. I like the odd shaped panels she has been working on lately. Jason Limón’s new work has really grown on me. I have enjoyed his art since the first time I saw it, the textures the way he cuts the panels he paints on and the slightly muted color palettes. While I liked the content of his older work, I am glad that that he has shifted over to these new elements. It’s always a treat to not only enjoy the technical side of an artists work, but to also be surprised at every new new show not knowing what they will bring.

Tonight at the Gallery 1988 in San Francisco a group show featuring work by Rueben Rude, Ahren Hertel, Brandi Milne & Jason Limon opens.

The new work by Ahren features the new style that is doing now (shown). It’s a killer progression from his earlier work. The stylized figures from before have morphed into more realistic figures, but the elements, colors and icons in his work are still there. It’s a great step forward, I’m looking forward to seeing the works in person. Check out the rabbit in this one, he looks amazing.

Head on over and check out the show online, or stop by tonight, check out the show and maybe say hi if you bump into me. Gallery1988 SF

  • “I Vote for Art” officially launched, buy or sell some art

“I Vote for Art” is a new website were you can purchase original works of art as well as prints. The best part of the site is that you can vote for your favorite pieces. So if your like me and like to “window shop” for art online, you can not play an interactive role while your doing so.

The site was started by Ben Rowe out of Australia, he has quite a passion for art, as well as a good eye for art. He is a long time reader of the Creep Machine, and has always been there even when I’m sure I have only had two or three readers.

Anyway, the site is now live so head on over, vote for some art, buy some. Or if your an artist, submit your work to Ben and maybe have your stuff for sale as well. There is already a great amount of work for sale on the site from such artists as: Kendrick Mar, Jason Limon, Mel Kadel, Jim Bradshaw, Tanya Pshenychny and the list will just keep growing.

Check it out, and good luck Ben! “I Vote for Art”
