Books: Yore Extended Edition by Joao Ruas @ Eidolon Fine Arts

Back in November 2011, Thinkspace Gallery opened an exhibition of new works by Brazilian artist Joao Ruas entitled Yore. A show catalogue and a book of sketches and ideas for the show was once available, but now is long sold out. In the coming weeks Eidolon Fine Arts will release an expanded edition of the Yore catalogue. The book will contain not only images of the works, but sketches and process shots, as well as detailed views of the works. The book will be 7.75″ x 9.75″, hardcover volume printed on 148 GSM lustre paper with black endpapers and hand-embellished details. It is accompanied by a tipped-in, signed and stamped print of “Small Gorgoneion II” printed on 330 GSM hot press cotton rag paper, as well as a beautifully produced numbered micro certificate.

This amazing will be available for a two-week period beginning July 29, 12 pm UTC-3/6 am PST, ending August 13, 11:59 am UTC/5:59 am PST, with the final edition size being determined by the number of orders. Like most time released prints, anyone who purchases a book during this window is guaranteed a copy. Below are some preview shots of the book; we will also be posting a reminder once it gets closer to the release date so that all Creep Machine fans have a shot at this release.

  • “Lined in Lead: Works in Graphite” @ Gallery Nucleus

The past week or so hasn’t been filled with the most positive news, but hopefully things will be changing soon for everyone. The art shows however just keep coming, and are always a good way to try and brighten your day up and remind you that there are people out there trying to create beautiful things. The latest group show at Gallery Nucleus is a perfect example of this. Entitled “Lined in Lead: Works in Graphite”, this exhibition focuses art created with nothing more than graphite and paper. A few of the artists used toned paper for a more dynamic look, but overall the entirety of the show is one amazing drawing after another. Work by Wesley Burt, Alexandre Day, Andrew Hem, David Jien, Rodrigo Luff, Joao Ruas, Barron Storey, Rob Sato, Shelly Wan, Allen Williams, and Michael Zulli will be on view until April 11th.

  • New prints from Eric Fortune and Joao Ruas @ Paper Tiger

A Paper Tiger has added two new prints to the online shop. “Haunted #20” from Brazilian artist Joao Ruas, and “A Place That I Remember” by Eric Fortune. Both of these new prints are based on original work that is currently a part of the “Go East” exhibition from Lebasse Projects, both originals have sold so if you are as hooked on these two pieces as I am, these prints are very welcomed.
Each print is roughly 12″ x 16″, signed and numbered in editions of only 25 for $100 a pop. I don’t imagine these prints to stick around very long, they are both beautiful images from two very exciting artists.

  • “Go East” exhibition with Lebasse Projects

For a three day only exhibition, November 5-7th, Lebasse Projects will take the artists that are the heart of the gallery and bring them to the east coast. This marks the first in what will hopefully be many global exhibitions, giving everyone a chance to see work from artist such as Yoskay Yamamoto, Tessar Lo, Edwin Ushiro, Joao Ruas, Eric Fortune, Mia, and Nate Frizzell.
I have always felt that the best way to view art is in person. It is quite hard when the gallery is across the country or in another country for that matter, so this show will be a great opportunity for the fans in New York to check out these amazing works of art. For those of us that are still stuck checking out the work online, here is a small preview and a link to the full one.
