Opening up this December 13th at the Last Rites Gallery in New York is “Anathema”, featuring new paintings by Shawn Barber and Vincent Castiglia. The opening Reception is from 7-11pm, and Shawn will be there signing his new book Forever and Ever.

This is Shawn’s first collection of erotic works, they are beautifully rendered as all of his paintings are and very intense. I can only imagine what seeing them in person would be like. Vincent also has some new erotic inspired pieces as well, and if you look in the shop you will find prints from both artists. There is two new prints from Shawn, one Last Rites Exclusive of his “Portrait of the artist: Paul Booth” and another of Genevive Zacconi.

  • Fred Harper studio visit (video)

Fred Harper currently has a show going on with Christopher Conte at the Last Rites Gallery. This is a little interview, studio visit video. It gives you just a peek into the studio of the artist, what inspires him and what he is currently working on.

I really dig his studio, it looks huge. Better than being stuck in one small little room. I also noticed that he holds his paintbrush, in the way that my professor was trying to get me to hold my brush for several semesters. One of these days I’ll learn to loosen up.
