  • Aotd: “Sunburn” by Dan Harding

Dan Harding has been cranking out some really amazing paintings lately. I am always happy to see new work. His imagination is limitless, and his style and execution always surprises. I was thinking about this a few nights ago; Rick Baker and Dick Smith were responsible for making me want to pursue a career in special effects, something I never did finish. If Dan Harding had been creating these works way back then, I would have been hooked on painting at a far younger age. The piece shown below is called “Sunburn”, and is 9″ x 12″. I love the pose and expression this character has, and you’ll be seeing this face soon with a new project that I am working on.

In the meantime, head on over to Dan;s homepage and follow him on Facebook to see new work and get alerted about new shows.

For his Latest solo show at Lebasse Projects, “Familiar Strangers”, Yoskay Yamamoto made 100 resin sculptures entitled “Do You Remember Me?” The sculptures are Yoskay’s take on the Atom Boy character mixed with his own signature features. Each one of these faces was hand-sculpted by the artists and comes with hardware to mount them on the wall in the same fashion they were mounted in the exhibition.

  • Artist Profiles: Rory Kurtz

Rory Kurtz is an artist working out of Chicago, Illinois. He is mainly self-taught and works with pencil, inks, and digital paint. He has also begun to add some paintings he is making out of acrylic paints to his blog. Wether it is digitally or traditionally, I think Rory has an amazing style and look forward to seeing more work. He had a piece in the “A Cry for Help” group exhibition at Thinkspace Gallery a while back, one that he also breaks down in his blog as well.
