  • Ashley Wood’s online exclusive art show at Scott Eder Gallery

The Scott Eder Gallery is currently having and “Online Exclusive Art Show” featuring work by Ashley Wood. The feature has selections of work from 48 More Nudes, World War Robot, Spawn Book of the Dead and more. There is a good mixture of oils works as well as ink on paper. I really love how energetic and often violent his works looks like, very similar to the way that Ralph Steadman and Ben Templesmith handle inks.

A huge majority of the works are nudes, so I’ll just post this preview, unless the Creep Machine readers don’t mind nudity I don’t think I have ever asked yet?

  • “Anatomy of a Somnambulist” print by Mia

The San Francisco location of Gallery 1988 is going to be releasing a new print from Michelle “Mia” Araujo today. The print is based off of a painting Mia had at the “Illuminate” show at the Corey Helford Gallery. It’s being released today by Gallery 1988 at noon. The print is 16″ x 20″, signed and numbered in an edition of 25. To get one of these contact the gallery at (415)409-1376 or gallery1988sf@gmail.com

It’s really quite a striking image, I love the colors and peaceful expression she has.

  • New prints from Will Murai

Will Murai was one of the artists that you could find on Blueflip Art, but once the site closed down there was no place to get any prints from Will. You can now head over to inPRNT.com and check out a large selection of prints of some of Will best works. I haven’t seen a print from this site in person, but I have hear they look pretty good. It looks like each print has three sizes to choose from, 13″ x 19″, 18″ x 24″ and 24″ x 36″.

  • “Cubie” resin figure by Naoto Hattori

Naoto Hattori has added a resin figure to his online shop. This new figure was hand painted and created by the artist. It is 9.5 inches tall, made of resin acrylic and silicon.
It looks pretty killer and I hope to see more figures like this from Naoto in the future. He also has some new paintings as well if you look in the originals section.

  • Seen: Some Kind of Wonderful @ Gallery 1988 SF

The day after the Craola/Lister show I headed all the way back to San Francisco to enjoy the day a bit and see the “Some Kind of Wonderful” group show at Gallery 1988. The show features work by Cherri Wood, Mari Inukai, D’holbachi Yoko, Allison Sommers, Sarah Joncas and more.

This was the first time I have seen Allison Sommers work in person, and I was impressed. She really know how to use that gouache. It was amazing how intricate she was able to get in such small works. It was also nice to finally Sarah Joncas’ work in person as well. They are just as good as I imagined. The colors were perfect, bright and vibrant, you could see the works across the room. I am also becoming a huge fan of Mari Inukai. I love the colors and the massive texture that she gets in the paintings.

  • Seen: Anthony Lister and Craola @ Fifty24SF

Just this past Thursday I headed down to San Francisco to check out the new shows from Craola and Anthony Lister at the Fifty24 Gallery. It was raining a bit but as we pulled up the rain stopped and we got there just before the crowds did. Anthony’s show was in the upstairs gallery, and after taking photos of the show I was able to talk to him about his work at his studio space around the corner. He had some new works on the walls (seen in pic) and was very easy to talk to. You can tell he loves what he does. I met up with him for another pic later on at the show.

Craola’s show “Seeing Things” was in the downstairs area, and got packed super fast. He was also signing books and toys, as well as doing sketches for people. This made it hard at first to see, or even take photos of the show, but it calmed down. The new works were amazing and I was able to talk to Craola for a bit as well. He’s a super nice guy. His attitude honestly makes you love his art even more, not like it needed any help. I got a sketch from him in my little book and walked away happy I made the trip to see these shows.

I did a writeup for the show you can read on SFWeekly.com
And I have the rest of the show pics up on the Creep’s Flickr

  • Joe Vaux and Dan May @ Copro Nason Gallery

Copro Nason just opened two shows this weekend, “Manimal” by Joe Vaux and “Slow Collision” by Dan May. All the works are online to view and both shows look amazing. I really like the new works on Dan May, the colors in these paintings are so bright and vibrant. Nathan Spoor also interviewed Dan for this show over on Hi-Fructose.com.
