  • “Revenge for the Drowned” John Kolbek original for sale

    Bunnysmall_johnkolbek.jpg
John Kolbek has an original painting currently for sale. The piece is 8″x10″ and is entitled “Revenge for the Drowned”. The is the first time I have seen John put his work up for sale like this, and it looks as though someone might get it for a great price.

Fans of Michael Hussar will no doubt see an influence, his work occupies the same dark areas. I’m a big fan of John’s ink work, so much detial and dedication goes into each one of those works. It looks like John’s father painted as well, but didn’t do it for very long. Here’s to hoping John keeps going forward.

Edit: He also just added another original painting that was made for his “Childhood Series”, its an earlier work of his and is 21″ x28″. Check it out Here

  • “Color Blind” at Project Gallery now online

birthofcolor_kengarduno.jpg“Color Blind” is a group show that is going on at the Project Gallery in LA. The show ends April 12th,
but you can head over right now and see or purchase some really great art.

The show features work mainly by Ken Garduno & Tom Haubrick. Both artists have amazing styles, and fit perfectly together in a show. There is also a few pieces shown by Nate Frizzel, Randy Noborikawa, Yoskay Yamamoto, Tessar Lo, Tanner Goldbeck, Chuck BB, Nick Yarger, Yuat Onoda & Scott Belcastro. For the most part all of the work is monocromatic, but a few pieces have color thrown in. It’s really striking when you do see it as well, such as the piece from Ken Garduno “Birth of Color” (shown).

  • aotd: “Angel with an Apple” by John Waterson

    Angel_with_an_Apple_by_BluTack.jpg
Today’s piece is from John Waterson otherwise known as Blutack. Sadly, John passed away March 13th, I just found out this past weekend. He was insanely talented and I was so looking forward to seeing his art spread through the art world. One look at his gallery and it’s quite clear to see that it was only a matter of time before he was at the top. He was only 23 years old, it’s hard to imagine how amazing his work would have been in later years.

I exchanged words with him just a few times, so while I can’t say that we were friends I can say I was a huge fan of his work. Check out his gallery here: John Waterson Gallery

  • Advertising and blogs

Some of the new features of the site that I should have talked about earlier is the new advertising for the Creep Machine. There are two area you can have banner placed, the sidebar were you can currently see banners for Sketch Theatre and Vomitus.com, and the footer that will only fit one banner at a time. Scroll to the bottom and hit the “advertising” link if you would like more info about this.

The second is a blog that I created that will really be a more personal one. I am an artist as well, at least I am trying to be, and I don’t want to use this site to promote my work. So I will post my work, and daily thoughts and what not on the blog that I have created. If you want to check that out please head over here:

thanks, hope everyone is having a great week.

Tonight at the Gallery 1988 in San Francisco, Stella im Hultberg’s solo show “Silent Spring” opens up. The reception starts at 7pm and will go until 10pm. There will be a mini print set released, with 5% of the sets containing an original drawing, and a larger print.

There is a preview of the show online, a good majority of the work has already sold. I imagine the prints are going to sell very fast tonight. I love the new oil on canvas works that she has been making, and cant wait to see these in person. I’ll be heading to the reception and will post photos during the weekend.

  • aotd: “Vengeful Dunces” by Alex Kuno

vengefuldunces_alexkuno.jpgWith the B Movie show approaching quickly, I thought I would use the Art of the Day section to start featuring art from the participating artists of the show. I’ve seen a majority of the art for the show, and I’m blown away. There is some really amazing work and it has all far exceeded my expectations for this show.

So today’s piece is from Alex Kuno, he submitted a really fun piece for the show. The one shown above is an earlier work. This piece is 8″x10″ and I believe is watercolor and maybe even some acrylic paint. I really love the way Alex paints faces, the style of drawing added with the colors he uses really creates this timeless illustrative quality to his work. The scenes are always twisted and surreal. I’m really happy to have him in this show.

If you would like to see a preview of the show, message me and I will send you a link I have created for pre-sale. Otherwise, make sure you head on over and check out the rest of Alex’s work.

  • Original Maila Nurmi/Vampira Self Portrait

    vampira_self.JPG
There is a self portrait by Maila Nurmi, also know as Vampira, for sale right now. The piece is pencil and sharpie on onion paper. It’s signed both Vampira & Maila Nurmi, dated ’99. The seller states that all profits from the sale will go to the Maila Nurmi Memorial Fund. There is also some signed photographs by the same seller.

This is a great image. I have seen some other Vampira inspired pieces by Glenn Barr and Bob Dob, but it’s always a cool thing to get a piece of art made by the person featured in it.
