Zac Freeman is a graduate of Jacksonville University and since 1999 has been collecting various junk, that he uses to create these amazing portraits with. Zac takes the found junk and then glues it to a wood substrate, something like chipboard or particle board, all in order to create a portrait when seen from a distance. As stated in his bio “I feel the junk is more powerful being present. It is an actual thing to be reckoned with that existed in this time and place and carries energy in and of itself.” The works are pretty big, most coming in around 26″ x 30″ up to 48″ x 60″. Review: The Blab! Show @ Roq La Rue Gallery
On August 12th Roq La Rue in Seattle, WA opened the latest Blab! Show group invitational, with a specific theme of the Krampus as inspiration. For those not familiar with the Krampus, he is a pre-christian demon like creature that accompanied St Nick during Christmas and punished the bad children. The exhibition features work by Ryan Heshka, Nicoletta Ceccoli, Erik Mark Sandberg, Yoko d’Holbachie, Travis Louie, Travis Lampe, Martin Wittfooth, Ana Bagayan, Owen Smith, Chris Buzelli, Shag, Brian Despain, Mark Garro, Marc Burkhardt, Laurie Hogin, Andy Kehoe, Derek Nobbs, Alex Kuno, Andrew S. Arconi, Julianna Swaney, Jason Holley, and Fred Stonehouse. The folks over at Loved To Death, made their way from San Francisco to Seattle to check out the show. “Skully Girls” print set by Jeral Tidwell
Saw this over at Omgposters.com and had to share. Jeral Tidwell has just released a print set filled with 8 9″ x 12″ screen-prints featuring images from the “Skully Girls” series. The set is in a signed edition of 80 and you can get it for $35. It’s a killer series, love the fact that they made a “Venus” based print.

“Ephemeral” print by Jason Limon @ 1xrun
1xrun is gearing up to drop another limited edition print by Jason Limon today. The last print they released, “Blood Nectar”, sold out very quickly and I have a feeling this one will as well. “Ephemeral” is 20″ x 30″ on 100% Archival Cotton Paper, signed and numbered in a max edition of 30. As always each print from 1xrun comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Prints: “Planet of the Apes” by Jason Edmiston
Jason Edmiston added a new print to his online shop, this new one is based on the Planet of the Apes. I haven’t seen the new movie yet, but have heard some good things. The print entitled “Planet of the Apes: Trophies”, is 13″ x 19″ signed and numbered in an edition of 100. As stated by Jason “This painting is inspired by the scene at the beginning of the first Apes movie. Gorilla soldiers are standing posing for a photo after the great human hunt. This is the view from the photographer’s perspective.”

The sculptural work of Brandon Vickerd
Brandon Vickerd is a sculptor currently working out of Toronto, Canada and is a Professor of Visual Arts at York University. He received his BFA at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and his Masters at the University of Victoria. He has shown work in a huge list of exhibitions, has won more than a dozen awards, and is currently represented by Art Mûr in Montréal. Quoted from his statement Brandon’s work “is an examination of sculpture as a catalyst for critical thought, enriching the audience’s engagement with the physical world through the creation of spectacle.” Looking at the images below, you can see what a spectacle they are. “Coral Hound” print by James Jean
Currently available from the Martha Otero Gallery is a new limited edition print from James Jean. “Coral Hound” was first shown at the Hong Kong Art Fair from May 26-29th. The original was made with color pencil, graphite, acrylics, and digital and was 30″ x40″ on Hahnemühle Fine Art Paper with Genuine Palladium Leaf. The print is 44″ x 34″, with an image size roughly the same as the original work. It is signed and numbered in an edition of only 10. Invisible Man and The Mummy prints from Mondotees
Dropping sometimes today, August 11th, is two new prints from Mondotees. “Invisible Man” by Kevin Tong, which is a 24 x 36″ screenprint, signed and numbered in an edition of 285, and “The Mummy” by Martin Ansin, which is also a 24″ x 36″ screenprint in a signed edition of 285, and there is a snazzy variant edition that’s in an edition of 150. These prints will drop randomly today, and like all Mondotees prints should sell out in seconds.
