Safewalls, the art project by Cirque Du Soleil, has just released a new print by Chet Zar. Inpsired by the Zumanityâ„¢ Pan character, Chet created a work with his signature style of painting and mood, and created one very sharp looking print. There are two versions, the standard which is 20″ x 30″ and limited to 300 and the deluxe which is 24″ x36″ and comes stamped and with a COA. Also on the Safewalls homepage is an interview with Chet which is a must see. He has a great attitude, infectious laugh, and really just draws you into his art and his world even more. He also talks about the painting and the idea of creating something more erotic than he usually does. Safewalls Interview

The art of Jessica Stewart
Jessica Stewart is an artist working out of Melbourne, Australia. As stated in her bio she likes to “draw portraits of dreamers and lovers. Using pencil, paint and pastel she draws ships, homes, animals among all other sorts of symbolic objects to represent a bond, a freedom or maybe an escape from their current situation.” Growing up near the coast is a strong influence in her work and can be seen with the nautical elements many of the drawings have. Her drawings have a very painterly effect to them, and are very effective at pulling you in to the world she has created. I would love to see these in person as I know some of the details are lost when photographed. Also, if you head over to her Flickr you will see more drawings as well as some photography of hers. Make sure to check out her homepage, she has some original works and prints listed in her online shop.

“Mysterious Strangers” by Derek Albeck @ POVevolving Gallery
This past week, Friday the 13th to be exact, the POVevolving Gallery in Los Angeles opened a new solo show by Derek Albeck. Entitled “Mysterious Strangers”, these new realistic graphite drawings continue his recent works which “depict the disparate, frenzied moments that are usually the domain of the casual snapshot. What makes his use of these images noteworthy, however, is the carefully selected grouping of images that, as a whole, mimic a loose narrative rooted in his own personal history and memories.” The show is now online to view, and the works look amazing. Derek is truly a master when it comes to drawing, and shows that a medium that gets less attention than painting can be very dynamic. Also om the website in an interview with Derek, so while your there to check out the art make sure to take a look at the interview as well.
