  • “Germs” by Travis Louie

    “Germs” by Travis Louie

Travis Louie has been working on some new concepts lately, and has posted some of them on his blog. These new characters are “Germs” and so far look amazing, I do hope this is something we see in some upcoming shows. I have always been a big fan of his vintage style portraits, and using inspiration from things such as Germs makes me wonder what he will do next. Follow his blog to keep in the loop of new art and shows.

  • Hi Fructose interview with Buddy Nestor

Hi Fructose has just put up a new interview with Buddy Nestor conducted by JL Schnabel, an artist working out of Philadelphia. The interview goes over the beginnings of Buddy’s “Every Girl Goes to Hell” portrait series, and gives a detailed account of the working process Buddy goes through for each one of these paintings. It’s a great interview that flows well, and gives the viewer a better insight into these outstanding works Buddy keeps on creating. I have to say that the articles and interviews by JL Schnabel are one of the main reasons I keep checking Hi Fructose out on a weekly basis.

  • New work by Chris Mars

Chris Mars recently added some new work to his website, and a list of all the shows he will be participating in this year. Posted a few days ago he showed some ceramic works in the “Mad Potters Tea Party” (featured), has work on view at the “Suggestivism” show at the Grand Central Art Center, and coming in the next few months will show at the MOMA in New York, Sacred Machine in Tucson, AZ, MondoPop in Rome, and at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. It’s always exciting to see new work by such a talented artist like Chris Mars, each painting reminds me why I became interested in his art in the first place. Check out his homepage for the rest of the new art and news on upcoming shows.

  • New work by Iain Macarthur

Iain Macarthur (featured) was recently commissioned to do a giant wall mural for Be Street that looks spectacular. With his unique drawing style, he was to create a winter landscape complete with yeti. The full artwork is over at Iain’s blog (here), and there is even some more shots of what the mural looks like in the store. Iain has been pretty busy since the last time we checked on him, his Soceity6 is filled with quite a large amount of prints now.

Check out Iain’s blog and various profiles to keep up on all new work.

  • New work by Bryan Pickens

Back in October I featured the art of Byran Pickens (here), and have been watching his site ever since. He recently added two new paintings, and even some process shots for one of the paintings “CMYK” (shown first), the second one is “Untitled”. I love the textures and the feel that Bryan is able to achieve with his work, and the clean, sharp, illustrative style the figures still hold. It’s a very dynamic combination. Make sure you check out Bryan’s homepage, and the blog area for more process shots, to see how the artists works and any upcoming news or prints.
